Lawson's Bagels South Yarra — Restaurant in Melbourne

I’ve been here once before and it was lovely but today’s order was shocking.

I learned from last time to not order the coffee as it’s extremely bitter and has no balance so was able to bypass that today. The food however, absolutely terrible.

The smoked salmon This is usually lovely but today was disgusting. Instead of thinly sliced into even pieces, the salmon was cut into thick chunks and just slapped on. The tomato was underripe and the cream cheese was so thick.

The BLT bagel Underwhelming but edible.

The Brekkie bagel Had sloppy egg which was balance and the bacon was 90% fat. It was falling apart and was not enjoyable.

The plain chips on the side tasted old, on the border of being stale so inedible. I don’t know why they’re there in the first place but at least if you’re going to out chips there, make sure it’s fresh.

The best thing about the order today was the bagel itself which I doubt is homemade . Not worth it at all and I won’t be looking to support my local (especially during lockdown) if this is what they think is acceptable and will happily serve. It’s embarrassing to pay just under $50 to treat your household to a special brunch at home and eat this “food”.

We had a fresh orange juice and two bagels with cream cheese- the orange juice was great and a fair size for the price. The bagels were unfortunately really disappointing; they seemed to not be boiled/have anywhere near the right density of a bagel, basically tasting like bread with seeds on them? I love bagels. Most of the time, the staff is friendly and casual. Today, there were 2 girls behind the counter. 1 got my order wrong and took awhile, the other was talking on her cell phone while serving people. She also had a rude attitude.
