Serious concern over lack of training and awareness by staff in regards to food allergens…..
“Almond milk” and actual “Lactose Free Dairy Milk” are two completely different things, despite both options being available on the menu, the barista clearly doesn’t understand how serious this can be for someone who suffers from allergies to Almond Milk or nuts.
Their menu offers a choice of Lactose Free, Soy or Almond milk for $0.50 extra and I specifically ordered “lactose free milk”, that’s definitely not what I was served due to the sickness which will probably last the remainder of the day now…….
Either your barista used Almond Milk (which I was suspicious of due to the taste) or full cream milk because they were too lazy to get lactose free milk out of the fridge!
I shouldn’t need to hold your baristas hand to make sure that they use the right milk, the lack of awareness as I mentioned early is definitely concerning!
Almond Milk contains maltodextrin (which is what’s in the Milk Lab Almond Milk I saw on present in the Cafe) and some Almond Milks may also contain carrageenan, both of which people can be allergic to.
Luckily, I’m not allergic to nuts, as a person who has a nut allergy could have an anaphylactic reaction which is serious and can be potentially fatal!
I would recommend that you train your staff appropriately on this matter, as this could have potentially been a very serious or fatal situation for someone if they’d had an anaphylactic...
Read moreWent there this morning on their 3rd day of being open after waiting months for it to open. We were greeted by lovely girls and seated. Ordered coffees and they were pretty good. Enough for me to get from there often. We then ordered the eggs Benedict, (menu said morrocan rub pork shoulder but it was dry and tasteless, felt like I was eating chalk. Something on the bread tasted very weird) eggs with bacon chorizo and a rosti (tasteless bacon and chorizo and the rosti was soggy and oily. The only thing that was nice was the eggs and the relish that came with it) the pumpkin fritters (tasteless even with mountains of salt. It felt like you were eating flavourless dough.) the blat (stale bread and tasteless) and a plate of bacon (it had no flavour what so ever.) We ordered 5 meals, 4 came out and the last was forgotten about until all other 4 meals were finished and plates were cleared away. I have never been more disappointed in a cafe. I’ll wait for a menu change in 6 mths time and maybe give it another try but I wouldn’t...
Read moreRude and inflexible attitude from the waitperson. I asked that the bacon in the chilli eggs be replaced by mushroom. The immediate response was that they don’t change menu items. He offered to add a side of mushrooms and add a charge for them. Initially I took him as meaning that they would not take the bacon out of the dish. When I questioned this, the waitperson stated that they would take bacon out but would charge an extra $4.50 for the mushrooms. (By the way, the cost of the bacon as a side is $6.50 - so they’d be making a bigger mark up just by swapping bacon for mushrooms. I’d have paid the full menu price for that). The waitperson then said I’d should try to get McDonalds to change menu items. Nice to know that they equate themselves with McDonalds.
Note to owner: Why not add a vegetarian option to the dish, swapping the bacon for mushrooms. Charge the same price, make a bigger markup and keep...
