BEWARE OF THIS GOOGLE LISTING, was the first time I've ever gotten up and refused to pay for my food. It has reasonably high ratings because it used to be a reliable café called max's. Firstly the pumpkin smash, it was appalling how a kitchen can even send that out. The "grilled haloumi" was straight out of the microwave, the "sourdough bread" was a soggy piece of white bread, the "mixed seeds" was just 7 pepita seeds dropped on top of what looks like a dip from the supermarket. And the serving of mushroom... wow... just take a look for yourself... Secondly the Chilli Scramble on Potato Rosti's, the scrambled eggs presented fairly well, and then I bit into the potato rosti and was soggy and seemed like it had also been cooked in a microwave and left a disgusting feel in my mouth. Both coffee's were also very average. When I went to the counter to tell them I am not paying, they questioned it, then went to the kitchen to ask the chef and about 5 seconds later came back and said sorry we wont make you pay, so the chefs understood pretty quickly and weren't surprised? None of them even went to go have a look at the disgusting plate of food that was left on the table. I'm not one to leave reviews either but this just really deserved to be publicly shown...

Popped in for breakfast and tried the egg, avo & haloumi roll, Max’s breakfast roll, and porridge — all small portions but flavoursome. It’s clear they focus on quality over quantity. It’s great to see extended hours under the new management — definitely a positive change! Also worth mentioning are their well-priced cocktails during happy hour, which are a great value. And if you’re around on a Friday night, the pizza specials are worth checking out. A cozy local spot that’s improving with time — looking forward to seeing what else they bring to the table. ********************************************** Came on a Thursday when they have their parmigiana specials night. For just under $19 you get a decent sized parmigiana with a sauce that does not taste processed, is not too thick, with a small side of chips & a well dressed salad. Would return again for this. ******************************************** Returned on a Friday night which is their pizza specials for $19.90. Fresh toppings, doughy crust and thin base, so can get a little doggy, but the flavours were there. ******************************************** Breakfast again. Asked for waffles but was given pancakes. Oh well

Max’s is great, have been a few times now and the service and food is always A+. Every visit without fail has been great, the menu has a range of options at a great price point. The food is always complemented beautifully by a great cup of coffee, you can tell the barista there knows what he is doing the coffee has a great aroma and doesn’t have a weak taste that many other cafes tend to have. Service always comes with a smile with the staff always willing to accomodate dietary requirements and special requests. You can tell the place is well kept as it is always clean and in good shape. Along with this, it has very a tranquil sitting area outside great for a warm and sunny day and also it is A1 that they have a fireplace always running inside on the cold days to keep the place warm. I highly recommend Max’s Corner to all.

I can't comment on the dine in service and atmosphere. What I can comment on is the order I placed via Ubereats. I have never been more disappointed than with the order I received today. I ordered 2 main courses, one is the veal parmigiana and salt and pepper calamari and both were a shocking rip off, I should have taken a picture of each to upload. The veal parmigiana, $25.90, steamed vegetable, mash potato and a bland, the size of a childs hand, half a mm thick slice of something that is suppose to be veal, honestly, you can not taste the meat, it tasted like fried breadcrumbs with tomato sauce topped with cheese. Very disappointing.

The salt and pepper calamari $25.90 was even worse, I took one look and saw once again, lots of undressed salad, lots of chips but where is the calamari? I moved the chips aside to see something resembling crumbs, at a closer look I found 4 to 5 small rings the size of a wedding ring, it looked like someone's leftover. That my friends was the salt and pepper calamari that I ordered.I cannot comment on taste as I was so disappointed and disheartened, I threw it in the bin.

When you select a meal from a restaurant menu, you would expect what you order would be the feature on the plate then you would expect a side order of salad or vegetable etc. At Max's the main feature is a large portion of the cheapest food group (chips/mash potato and salad) then a small bland serving of what you really wanted to begin with. I am surprised they are in operation as I would never eat their food again. For $52 I would be more satisfied with fast food and would have plenty of change. My...
