Dined here for Valentines Day with the $65pp ‘three course set menu’. The food was really nice, especially the focaccia and stracciatella - stand out. The portions were extremely small. We were disappointed to discover the ‘three course menu’ was an approx. 3cm potato pave, two small focaccia slices & stracciatella (so yummy!), a singular shared plate of ragù (which, again, was very small), and a shared honey butter toast (pictured). It would perhaps be more accurate to say that we shared a single serving of a three course menu. We were genuinely still hungry at the end of the dinner, which was really disappointing for $140 total. We did let them know we didn’t find the food filling, and we weren’t charged for the two additional oysters we ordered ($12 total off of our bill) and told ‘we’ll try to serve the other guests a bit more’. We noticed the table beside us were also very disappointed with the portions, so I wouldn’t say this was a case of our own insatiable appetites. Shared dessert pictured for reference. Being completely honest, we got take out on the way home. Again - the quality of the food was fantastic, we just felt that the servings or pricing need to be adjusted. Even just having our own main dish each would have been great and probably filled us plenty. $140 to have to go and buy more food isn’t an experience I’d like to repeat.

Dining at Marama Wine in Carlton North is a must-try for any date night! For just $45 per head, you’re treated to an intimate evening in a cozy, tastefully decorated space with lush seating and dim lighting that sets the perfect romantic mood. The staff at Marama Wine deliver exceptional service, welcoming and attentive throughout. The delightful evening began with homemade flatbread and whipped ricotta. The warm, fluffy bread paired with the whipped ricotta was the perfect start to open our appetites. Our main featured a perfectly cooked medium rare skirt steak with Paris butter. Despite its reputation as a chewier cut, this skirt steak was a flavor explosion; juicy, tender, and bursting with taste. Complimented by crispy paprika aioli frites and a unique celery, Parmesan, and chilli side salad, the main course was a blend of textures and flavors that kept us wanting more. Dessert was a light, fluffy chocolate mousse, not overly sweet, yet perfectly satisfying. And let’s not forget the 500ml carafe of wine included in their date night menu. We opted for the rose, which was a refreshing choice, pairing beautifully with the curated dishes. Overall, this date night menu offers incredible value without compromising on quality. 🌹🍷 Marama Wine is a 5-star date night experience that will have you coming back for more!

I’ve recently discovered that Carlton North has some lovely little wine bars and this is one of them. I came here with a group of 7 and I’m so glad we were a big group because we ordered multiple dishes to share between us as well as a couple of bottles of wine. It’s very romantic vibes here so I would say it’s also a very nice date spot! It’s also not a very big restaurant so it’s quite intimate. I really enjoyed all the food we ordered, my favourite being the Prawn + Scallop toast. The menu is a bit more up market but the quality and presentation of the food was beautiful. The only thing that bothered me is the waiter didn’t write our order down, they insisted they’d remember everything but made us read it out loud a couple times and then came round again to double check they had it correct. I personally think for a customers sake, you feel so much better seeing your order written down and knowing that you don’t need to stress about something being forgotten or receiving the wrong dish.

I am a local and have walked past this place many times since it opened, trying it for Dinner last night for the first time.

This place hits the mark for exactly what I think it is trying to be - it is not trying to be a 3 hatted place - it delivered great food, exceptional service, all at a very reasonable price compared to what others are charging at the moment.

We shared a number of entrees, the standout being the Prawn + Scallop toast ! The other 2 (Anchovy and Mushroom Taco) were also fantastic. Fresh ingredients, great blend of flavours, perfect size. Left us wanting more and looking forward to mains - and they did not disappoint. We had the Chicken Skewers (which was an entree), the Pork Schnitzel and the Pasta, with a side of Fries with truffle oil. As with the entrees - all fresh, great flavours, and so so tasty.

We could not have dessert as we were too full.

Wine selection was not huge, but i would not expect it to be for a place of this size. A few more wines by the glass would be a recommendation, but not essential.

The atmosphere was amazing - during the day, it looks ok, but at night it transforms into a very cool place to be and the atmosphere has this very positive buzz about it.

Staff were amazing - and it turned out some were also the owners - you could tell with the passion they delivered an exceptional night for us.

Well done Marama - keep it up. We are already talking about coming back. Our new...
