North Cafeteria — Restaurant in Melbourne

Every single time I’ve gone here, we are OVERCHARGED! Today, poached eggs on toast x 2, one with mushrooms and silver beet and the other plain, 4 coffees $82 !! They do it on purpose. Just a rip off.

Post script. Went back today, as the food is good, a nice staff member said we could no longer have the large takeaway coffee, at the table, so we ordered the standard, and the topic of overcharging came up, and the nice girl apologised and said that last time there had been a mistake.(doesn’t explain the other times) A lady then came out and asked why I had left a bad review, ‘didn’t I know how hard it was’? And that ‘they were not going to cook for us’ which I found an odd statement. Firstly we are ALL finding it hard, and the inference was that she was doing us a favour by cooking for us! It’s a strange attitude for the hospitality industry. I guess that’s why she is not front of house. We popped in randomly for breakfast and found the friendliness of staff just delightful!

Food and coffee excellent … champion eggs sooooo good ….. perfectly cooked and great toast and relish. My partner had the granola which he loved, especially the generous serving of poached fruit on top

Really nice food. Best pesto eggs I’ve ever had - not too salty or processed. Would have loved a better knife for the sourdough though. Cutting the toast was a bit of a mission. Service was amazing. Staff are super friendly and welcoming.
