Ah, Milk & Wine Co, the most pleasant surprise we've had post-lockdown. We haven't been expecting much from businesses seeing as it does take a while to get back in the groove but this Heathmont café has delivered in all ways that matter and impressed us with a flawless experience.
This place has such a great vibe. It was tucked to the side of a shopping strip amidst a spot of green, with outdoor seating and a great indoor setup. The comfort of forest green walls, high ceilings, and modern but casual furniture compelled us to stay and catch up for more than an hour. Their staff was professional, friendly, and attentive, checking in at the right moments to see if we needed anything without being overbearing. The menu seemed new, too, with a few changes to some of the favourites and with enough variety to entice us across breakfast and brunch dishes. We had the Eggs Benny, this time with pulled pork and although they'd run out of Marty's Crumpets, the bagel it came with didn't take away from its deliciousness. We had the hollandaise on the side, which we'll definitely come back for, and the apple salad was a refreshing splash of acidity and sweetness. We also had Eggs My Way and though this is as simple as it gets, the sourdough was definitely better than most other places. Their coffee is supplied by St Ali, their tea by Tea Drop, and handled with great care by their baristas. Their skinny cappuccino, filter coffee, and lemongrass and ginger tea were definitely a step above the rest in that regard.
I was thoroughly impressed by how well-run this place is, how good it looks, and how well the staff treated us. I can say that this has now become our new, favourite local café. In fact, it's probably one of the best cafes for miles around. I can't wait to see where they go and can only wish them the best of luck as things begin to ramp...

Read moreTldr: nice staff warm atmosphere terrible food and the worst coffee at ridiculous prices. They take advantage of families and older persons in the area who deserve better food for their money.
Recommend if you need a place close by the following: Drom has great food at much better prices, its take away only though.
Cafe One 88 has really good coffee and extremely prompt service.
Mr Robertson Cafe is a bit of a drive but very nice seating and very good food.
We had brunch here and I was thoroughly disappointed.
In detail: Staff The staff were friendly, prompt and quick. No complaints.
Atmosphere The atmosphere is nice the warm wood and the green go well with the scenery makes you forget your near a main road. Comfortable seating and a clean cafe with plenty of seating and plenty of variety of seating. The salt and pepper shakers could probably be smaller and more in fitting with the style and the artwork clashes a bit with their otherwise very solid design.
The problem? The coffee. Absolutely garbage. I don't really have words to describe it otherwise. It's far below even the lower end of cafes in Melbourne. Maybe the worst in recent memory.
The food? Only had the one dish, the burger with fries. It was priced at nearly 30 dollars but absolutely not worth that. A porterhouse steak burger which tasted like it had been microwaved, small cut of meat on a even smaller bun. And when I say small bun believe me, it's small. The fries were ok, but a but too greasy and minimally...
