Minh Ky Central Chinese & Vietnamese Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

I was craving for roast meats and a quick search on Zomato led me to Minh Ky. Packed with customers, I took this as a good sign and I was right. The roast meats that we tried, save for the BBQ pork, was succulent and very tasty. The roast pork had a good ratio of fat, lean meat and crispy skin, and this was definitely my favorite of the bunch. The BBQ pork was sliced too thick and thus rather tough, but flavour-wise it was good.

The service can be hit and miss; the young fellow was rather harried and seemed lost, but one of the ladies was super helpful and friendly.

The tables aren't very clean and the floor sticky, but that's kinda expected here. The food is good and that's what I came for.

Will definitely be back to try out the rest of the dishes, and there's even suckling pig on the weekends. But you gotta get in quick as it...

Minh Ky (10F/8 Balmoral Ave, Springvale) is a 5 star rating restaurant for its good food and great taste. This is a small place but it has comfortable seats and spacing. The pricing is reasonable and their service is exceptional. Dish decision is never an issue with the variety of choices from Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine. Spicy and non-spicy selection to suit both adult and children. I take my family there regularly and we always have enjoyable experiences.

One day I forgot my laptop in the restaurant and called them. Then the next day, I went back to try my luck. I could not believe how honest they were because they returned my MacBook Air i7 just as how I had left it.

I have never been a big fan of char siew. Travelled countless times to HK, SGP and Malaysia but never ever had any char siew as good as this one. The $12 char siew rice Minh Ky serviced redefined what chat siew is in my taste library. It's extremly simple, and lack of good looking - but the spiciness from the deep fried shallots in chilli oil, the subtle sourness and acidity of the fermented raddish, and the unique taste of fresh char siew top up on each other into pure sensation. The size was big. I starved the whole morning but still struggled to finish everything in my plate. Service was good as well. They were quick, friendly and smiling.
