Minh Ky South Chinese & Vietnamese Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

My partner and I decided to try this restaurant, enticed by the good food reviews. Unfortunately, the excellent cuisine was initially overshadowed by poor customer service, making us question if we'd ever return.

We experienced a significant delay, waiting 30 minutes for my partner's meal, which never arrived. When I inquired about the food, the worker promised to check but instead ignored us and went about her tasks. This level of disregard was utterly disappointing.

Finally, another staff member approached us, explaining that the waiter had mistakenly given my partner's meal to someone else and failed to inform us. By this point, we had already decided to leave.

However, the owner stepped in and requested that we stay a few more minutes. She promptly provided the food we had originally ordered and gave it to us free of charge. This gesture was appreciated and showed a commitment to customer satisfaction.

While the food was indeed very good and the owner's effort somewhat redeemed the experience, the initial lack of attention and communication from the staff left a lasting impression. I hope the restaurant can address these service issues for the benefit of...

I have ordered from Minh Ky multiple times before on uber eats and tonight was the first time I dined in. I would have thought that dining in is always the better experience but it was not the case this time round. I want to be fair in saying that there are items on the menu that are quite delicious like the fried prawn dumplings and beef fried rice. However my main concern is the cleanliness of the place.

-The table I sat at was wet from what I assume had been cleaned with just a wet cloth. (I did end up seeing the cloth which looked like an old raggedy cloth that had been dunked in mop water).

-There were tissues and bits of food strewn across the floor. I tried really hard not to think about what the kitchen looked liked because I was super keen to eat. (Did not finish my meal).

-The condiments on the table looked like they weren't regularly changed as they had crusty nozzles and the chilli oil was cemented at the bottom of the container it was in. It was all CRUSTY!

As a regular customer at Minh Ky 2 in the heart of Springvale, I was severely disappointed on multiple occasions when four of us dined here for lunch on Saturday. They stuffed up 4 out of 7 of our orders. 2 had to be sent back for get the right order, 2 never came out (despite staff saying it was on the way). Two of the soup dishes that eventually made it to the table (1 had to be sent back) were almost inedible. Bun bo hue had so much shrimp paste it was a completely different (and terrible) dish. Tom yum noodles came out with egg noodles instead of vermicelli and was incredibly salty (couldn't bare more than a few tablespoons and didn't touch the rest).

Will never be back here again. I can understand if service can be a struggle at times, but to stuff up on so many separate occasions from service through to kitchen, its unbelievable they're still in business.. you would expect for such a busy time as a Saturday lunch, they would have their...
