MKS Spices'n Things — Restaurant in Melbourne

I do my Indian/Sri Lankan grocery shopping whenever I pass the Preston store. It could be a large quantity or small depending on the frequency. I was generally happy with their products although the service and customer relations are long way off the mark.

I did my shopping last night and happened to look at the receipt when I was relaxing at home after shopping, which I hardly do. To my surprise, there was an additional item on the receipt. When I looked closely ,I found a completely unrelated item on the receipt which is "Fresh Mango Lassi $3.00". I only bought grocery packets. There wouldn't have been an item to scan as such. That means he would have entered the item barcode number manually or scanned an item for himself. The cost involved is so minor and not worth requesting a refund for. However, this is cheating and I wonder how many more Mango Lassis I would have had without knowing, in the past. I also noticed in the store that the customers can't keep an eye on what is being scanned, as there is no screen visible to customers, which even smaller stores have. I am not sure how widespread the practice is and thought of warning the customers at this store. I would still do my shopping there but will make sure that I check the receipt before leaving the store.

Inexpensive, fresh each day and nutritious - if you choose well - Pakistani food. Their Mango Lassies are the best around. I always buy one to accompany each meal I'm purchasing and a couple extra for the freezer. But be aware the proprietors shut off the food at 7:45pm precisely, only if you're lucky, might there be a few items left over, pre-packaged for quick sale. I've been caught out a few times as the Grocery Section stays open until 8pm. The Grocery Section is extensive and full of surprises. They keep the extra long grain Basmati that you usually only find in Asian restaurants, plenty of choices of tinned Spanish Mackerel, as well as Ghee and cheap cooking oils, and any number of frozen items from Roti to exotic Asian vegetables, eg: frozen yam, etc., kept in their wall of freezers. KLM have big bags (2kg+) of yellow/brown Lentils at competitive prices, - grocery turnover is fast, so you would do well to buy your spices here rather than at your local supermarket. This is a wonderful recent (Covid Lockdown,) find with shops in Ashburton, Dandenong, Epping and Preston. Just check the opening hours carefully...

Hoplessly pathetic and embarrassing!!!

Bought indian cheese along with other things from the store on 09/10/15, realised when opened next day the cheese was off and took it straight to the store and was rudely told off by the manager named PRAKI. Not only the cheese wasn't taken back swapped over for a fresh but infact i was falsely accused by the manager of not storing it properly in the fridge. In all this matter the cheese taken back was shown to a couple of customers present there and then confirmed to be cold. Shockingly, I was advised to contact the manufacturer or the police by the manager to resolve this problem. I'm a big time and regular Indian grocery shopper but not going to any of the mks' again. What could've been just a fair swap over, became a scene leading to a highly unsatisfied customer. For me it wasn't about money, for the fact that product doesn't cost much but more about the the customer's satisfaction. I work in retail myself but never can we imagine treating customers in a...
