Extremely disappointed with my experience during Record Store Day today. My husband and I arrived at the store at 8:30pm the night before. We said goodnight to staff who got their dinner at 9pm. We even did some crowd control with people who were talking so loudly all night we reminded them they were in a residential area and people including the owner, who lived upstairs were trying to sleep. We were the first and only people there - hours before the next groups of people arrived.
Come doors open and it's a free for all. The "directions" where things were was a close up of the actual sign and crate and doors were open to at least 8 people. We were people number 1 and 2 in the queue and missed out on a record that they only had 3 copied of because people who arrived at least 4 hours after us "got to the crate quicker" (I probably would have too if I had actually slept the night before and if I had anticipated people would behave in this way).
The owner did nothing to mitigate this and allowed them to get their purchases. The hip and shouldering mentality is NOT what RSD is about and it was a slap in the face to the people who showed loyalty and dedication, who opted NOT to go to the larger record stores with greater stock numbers in order to support smaller stores. However the store now benefits next year when they get to say "people started lining up at 8:30pm last year" which adds to the hype and will likely result in increased business.
It has put me off RSD because what is even the point? I can get there early as I want, be first in line and then miss out because of poor organisation and consideration by a a store who doesn't recognise or honor the...

On the two occasions I have ordered records from Funky Duck, I've been very pleased on both occasions. Due to the nature of the vinyl market, products in stock varies quite a bit from time to time, but when they do have records on my wishlist, they're always at an affordable price, especially compared to the likes of JB Hi-Fi.
They also offer personal delivery by the staff at the surprisingly affordable rate, which I didn't actually realise was the case until my doorbell went off at 8pm one day and one of the staff members was at the door with my order, which is just an extra layer of service that really impresses and stands...

There was a lot going on for us at that time and when I ordered them I didnāt pick up that two of the three albums were not in stock. When I contacted Mark about my timeframes and importance of these albums, he went above and beyond to get me that music for our special event. Including ordering from multiple different suppliers to try and get atleast one of them in time. They arrived all in great condition and with days to spare. They have been played many times since.
