My husband and I had lunch there late August, and were so impressed with the service and food we asked to book for Father’s Day. The lady who took our booking was lovely and said we were the first to book, and asked where we would like to sit and this was all noted in the reservations book.
A week later we walk in a couple of minutes before our booking time only to find out there was no table available. We wouldn’t have minded waiting, but could see that everyone who were seated hadn’t ordered meals yet, so knew straight away it would be a long wait. The person making coffees (which I am assuming is the owner) was rude and arrogant when we advised again we had a booking. He then blamed a table for turning up late, and was saying that they had bookings that were made 6 weeks ago. My highlight was the look on his face when we told him that we booked the week before and we were told then we were the first to make a booking. He went quiet very quickly. It was also quite obvious that they were taking walk-ins over bookings.
We stood around for another 5 minutes, and after being completely ignored we walked out. An apology would’ve gone a long way, maybe an offer to take our number and to call when a table became available, but nothing. So disappointed, especially since I raved about the cafe to my in-laws. We ended up driving to Dromana for lunch as of course everywhere else we tried in Main Street was fully booked. We’re local to the area and will...
Read moreWe had a really disappointing brunch here. There are lots of issues with this place, in our opinion. First impressions matter and ours wasn’t good. The place looks a bit down at heel and the menus presented to us were all creased and dog eared. It wasn’t easy to order and several staff ignored us despite our waves to them. Credit to the lady with the elaborate piercings. She tried very hard to be upbeat and efficient. She seemed to be working three times harder than the other staff who didn’t seem that interested in what they were doing.
The all important food was sadly quite average. We both had the Mr Jackson dish which is sort of a big breakfast but not. Nothing on the dish was really right. The eggs were hard, the mushrooms were excessively salty, the potato rosti was hard and overcooked. It just doesn’t work, or not cooked as it was presented to us.
There were a host of other issues with the place but I can’t really be bothered detailing them all. This cafe is under par currently. IMO it needs serious attention...
Read moreThe food tasted lovely but there were a few problems. Ordered each of the three baos to share and they were all good, probably the best thing that we ordered. Snapper burger had way too much dill... Partner is not a huge fan of dill and found it difficult to eat. Even after having taken the dill out, there was heaps of dill in the sauce that could not be removed. I ordered the chicken salad and unfortunately it was really underwhelming. Not only did it not come with the crispy noodles that were listed on the menu, but it barely had any chicken in it. There was maybe 6 little chunks of shredded chicken that I came across in the salad. Just felt like the salad wasn't even finished before it came out of the kitchen. Paid $98 in total... $27 was for the burger and $21 was for the salad that was basically what I could...
