Hello Kabir and Team , We booked a table for 7 on Sunday 28th September 2025.Our friends were already seated at the restaurant , we , 4 of us , upon entering a restaurant , would have appreciated an eye contact and at least a welcome smile from the waiting staff , but alas, we never received it. I was surprised to be served by a waiting staff dressed in Black hoodie , black leggings and joggers. Is it a practice at Mukka to have waiting staff serving food with artificial nails?? Looking at the price of the food, I sincerely believed that the serving staff's attire and mannerism will match the upmarket food prices, but it was not to be. The feedback for the food , I will divide it into following categories Food Temperature- Most food was warm , none of the food was steaming hot(especially on a winter evening) Food portions- Surprisingly vegetarian dishes had a smaller portion(Bharta and Avial) and Meat portions were relatively larger Food garnish- Green chilly roundels and ginger juliennes were crudely cut ( approximately 4mm to 8 mm in thickness, which are offensive to bite into) Food taste - Baigan Bharta - was good , had a homely taste , and was the smallest portion on the table Laccha Paratha- Good size and good layering , the amount of ajwain can be reduced as it is a very strong spice Avial- Taste was good . Some of the traditional vegetables were missing , such as drumsticks , pumpkin, carrots and Yam Chicken chettinad- My daughter found a hair in the food , but the conversation on the table was so engaging , I advised my daughter to just put it away as I did not wish to disturb the flow of conversation and cause a scene . The chicken was broken into small bits ( an obvious sign of a overcooked protein), The pepper flavour was acceptable Bombay fish masala- The taste of the gravy/masala was generic, there was fish skin on the fish fillet that was rubbery , and my taste buds were rudely interrupted by a lump of ready made fibrous ginger paste, that had to be spat out Amma;s Meen curry- largest portion on the table , the sauce was overpoweringly sour with tamarind , probably the dish had orange food colour, I wish someone would taste the food before serving it to the customer . Rasam - was warm only(Not hot) , and had an imbalanced flavour of spice , and no taste of rasam powder Tandoori Mushroom- Served on an interesting food trolley , again just warm when served , accompanied by tired beetroot -Vinegar flavoured onion, and a runny mint -coriander chutney , too spicy and lacking in salt Naans- were reasonably good , but lacked the fluffiness.
To top this all , one of the probable kitchen staff was seen gulping handfuls of flavoured saunf behind the cash register , which is prohibited by food safety regulation .
This is a sincere feedback from a disappointed customer , who has had a career in hospitality industry in India, Australia and United kingdom , who has been there - and done that and I believe the team will take the feedback , as "How the customer sees it". I wish you the very best , and I hope the team will treat the food more passionately , handle the spices with control, avoid over spicing the food and TASTE food before service . Note - The restaurant was not super busy from 7.00pm , there was a table of 3 , table of 4 , our table of seven , and a few UBER orders ( about 3 to 5) .
I will be very cautious before suggesting Mukka , Fitzroy to my friends , especially after reading a price tag of $74.00 for a THALI.
Some food(3 dishes) was left over , and the waitress asked us if we would like to take it away , but we did not have the...

What we had:
Pani puri, a favourite street food in India, just pour tamarind, mint and spicy water into the fried puri that is filled with potatoes and chickpeas. The trick is to put the entire thing in your mouth at one go and devour the burst of flavours in your mouth. Strongly recommended.
Paneer Tikka, cottage cheese grilled with so many flavours and capsicums. So soft and absolutely mouthwatering. Must try.
Butter Chicken, a classic dish nailed with perfection, soft, tender juicy chicken in a creamy, rich and tasty gravy. Such a fantastic Indian curry.
Goan Fish curry, mildly spicy but the rich authentic flavours of the coast of Goa have been captured so perfectly through this curry. Simply mouth melting.
Cheese naan, crispy, soft and cheesy Indian bread, that goes perfectly with the curries.
Pea pulao, a light, hearty and delectable rice with peas, onions and cumin. So delish.
Rose and Cinnamon lassi, a sweet, charming rose flavoured lassi which is truly delicious and very refreshing.
Masala Chai, relaxing to drink even on hot summer afternoons.
Mango Falooda Kulfi, another favourite Indian dessert, which is a summer staple on the streets of India, absolutely refreshing and rich with pistachios and mangoes. Truly addictive in taste.
Besides the irresistible food, you will find the decor as loud, vibrant, traditional and yet desi to its very core. Perfect for a gram-worthy shot. The aroma of the burning incense sticks will give you a warm feeling the moment you step in. The service is amazing and the team of owner and staff are such nice, kind and helpful folks. The prices are reasonable.
So why not make a reservation today @mukka.fitzroy to explore the rich taste, flavours and warmth of awesome...

Emulating Indian village-style dining with food served in steel utensils. From the fluffiness of the flatbreads to the fragrance of their Biryani , is one of the rare restaurants in Melbourne that make you forget you’re out dining, and instead makes you feel like you’re eating from a home kitchen.
it’s hard to find Onion Bhajji of the perfect texture and consistency, but they seems to have nailed it. We also enjoyed their Gobi 65 and Oh my god, what flavoursss!!
Whether you’re looking for creamy butter chicken or vegetarian Malaii Kofta, you’ll definitely love checking out this amazing place. Their Dal Makhni is to die to for and A buttery garlic naan dipped in it will take you to another world.
