Nando's Fitzroy — Restaurant in Melbourne

I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent dining experience at your Nandos Fiztory location in Melbourne.

I do not see an option to give Zero rating.

While I have generally enjoyed previous visits to other Nandos and i had good experiance or at least not unhappy about it, my most recent meal at Fitzroy outlet fell short of my expectations. The quality and quantity of the food, particularly the kids' meals and the quarter peri peri chicken, was below standard. The portions were smaller than anticipated, and the food arrived cold and with an unpleasant odor.

The kids' meal ( 4 Tender peices ) was made up of four small pieces of chicken by cutting 2 tender into 4 pieces , and the Peri peri quater chciekn, which seemed like the smallest quarter chicken I've seen in Australia. The large chips were also undersized, with only 75% of the expected amount.

After dining at your restaurant, my 10-year-old children expressed their dissatisfaction with the experience, stating that they felt the food and service were subpar. Given their familiarity with other Nandos locations in Melbourne, they were particularly disappointed.

Due to my disappointment with the quality and quantity of the food, as well as the customer service, I will not be returning to the Fitzroy Nandos.

This place is so busy filling delivery orders that they completely neglect anyone who visits to dine in or order take-away.

I went to dine in. I checked-in, was told to check in 2-3 more times while I waited for food. I'd say chill, but they did that with my chips. I can only assume they were left sitting in the fridge while the rest of my meal was prepared.

The next time I went back, I ordered takeaway, the mediterranean salad with the great pretender protein, and chips with hot sauce. Great Pretender. Classy name. I'd let them know of my previous issue with the chips being cold so they decided to mix it up a bit this time.

Instead of the chips, this time it was the vege patty which was barely defrosted. No signed of it being actually cooked, or sear marks on the sides. The patty tasted like congealed potato with vegetables in. Are they serving home brand bubble'n'squeak patties? Then there were the chips. To their credit, hot and crisp. The sauce sachets however, mild sauce.

I dined here in December 2024, visiting from Sydney and got the worst food poisoning of my life so far. And I say this having had food poisoning again recently in 2025! I had a half chicken and chips which from memory was delicious, and my girlfriend had a classic wrap. The service was quite fast, however, I distinctly remember receiving weird looks from one of the male staff members with a beard, and when I was leaving and wished them a merry Christmas, the bearded staff member just blankly stared and didn’t say anything. Which, when reflecting in hindsight, has triggered thoughts that this individual knew the chicken was contaminated as his behaviour towards me was so strange. There also was this disgusting smell towards the back of the restaurant which had almost made us leave, though towards the entrance the smell was not present.
