This place was recommended by the river cruise company we used. In hindsight, they must be getting a kick back or they own the place.
The building is historic but the dining area was very sub-standard. The tables and chairs were wobbly on uneven ground. We were under a tent with only view of the kitchenās over flowing rubbish bins. There was just no atmosphere.
We ordered and paid then waited over 20 minutes for our cruise special fish and chips for $12.50 each. (Before we knew the dining area was a dud). After watching others who ordered after us received their meals, I enquired about our order. Their first automatic response was that they gave it to us. After some persistence it was revealed that the lady manager who took our order and cash had not given us a docket and some how lost our order.
A good business operator would have used the opportunity to redeem themselves. Unfortunately the staff there just did not care.
We took a 10m walk across the road and found another fish and chips place that had better seating, dining area with a good view And their fish and chips was a huge 20% cheaper.
I do not recommend this place as they do not care about their customers. Go across the road for a better and cheaper...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOff The Pier Fish and Chips is some of the best fish and chips I've had in a while. We rode our bike to the shop which for where I live took 40 minutes. These Fish and Chips were really good and made the long bike ride worth it. Everything we ate, which was a serve of chips a piece of gummy flake and a potato cake was all high quality and all tasted really good. The staff were also all very nice and sweet. The only thing I would change is the seating area out the back, which wasn't the highest quality but would've been better if it wasn't a rainy day when we went there. Other then that I would say that the quality of Off The Pier Fish and chips made the long ride completely worth it and would defiantly go back there again even if it take another 40 minutes. Would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve always wondered what it would be like to leave a Google review, so what better time to do so than when on holiday. This was my first lunch in Melbourne this time around. Lunchbox with gummy flake (a type of shark apparently), dim sim, potato cake, and hot chips. Tasty, filling, good value. Gummy flake was much larger than expected, basically the whole length of the lunchbox. Wouldnāt have imagined that dim sim would pair well with fish and chips, but I quite liked the pairing. Tartare sauce is dairy-free. So many (good) chips, I didnāt mind sharing it with seagulls for a bit of entertainment. Also highly recommend eating this while in view of a large...
