Old Durbar Nepalese & Indian Restaurant Nunawading — Restaurant in Melbourne

We visited Old Durbar in Nunawading with my husband. Our daughter was in Nepal and raved about Nepalese Momos so we had to come and experience for ourselves.

OMG wonderful food and lovely lovely wait staff. We felt welcomed the minute we arrived. Beautiful atmosphere and decor. Authentic Nepalese music (not too loud or obtrusive to conversation).

Amazing menu, some curry favourites (if you like Indian food) but with Nepalese flair. We started with outstanding Momos - of course. A serve of 10 so five each! My husband tried the Kashmir Lamb which was absolutely delicious and again a really generous serve. I had traditional Nepalese dish: the Chicken Sekuwa Set. Delicious exciting flavours but maybe a little too hot for me personally, but would recommend for and adventurous palate !

We had a fantastic meal at Old Durbar in Nunawading. The food was fresh, full of authentic Nepalese and Indian flavours, and beautifully presented. The jhol momo were some of the best we’ve had — juicy and perfectly spiced. The butter chicken and goat curry were rich and aromatic, served with fluffy naan and fragrant basmati rice.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with traditional decor that gives a cozy, cultural vibe. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the service was quick and professional.

Great value for money too — generous portions and very reasonably priced. Whether you’re a fan of Nepalese cuisine or trying it for the first time, this place is a gem in the eastern suburbs.

Had an amazing experience at OD Restaurant.The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming—great for a relaxed meal with friends or family.

I ordered the Chicken Chilly, and it was hands down one of the best I’ve had. Perfect balance of spice, flavor, and that slight crispiness you look for in a good Chicken Chilly. You could tell it was made fresh, and the portion was more than satisfying.

The staff were super friendly and attentive, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Service was quick, and everything arrived hot and fresh.

If you’re into Nepali or Indo-Chinese flavors, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be going back to try more dishes...
