I would give 0 stars if I could. I ordered take away from here a few months back when there was a festival in Oakleigh and the meat was dry, flavourless and burnt. I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt as they were busy from morning to evening due to the festival and it was easy to drop the ball.

Last night I thought I’d try them again. I ordered take away meat for dinner which cost me over $100. I walked in to pick up the food and it wasn’t overly busy so I thought surely they can’t stuff the meat up again as they have more time to focus. The meat again was burnt, very salty, dry and disgusting. We had to get some herbs out of the pantry to flavour the food ourselves to give it some sort of taste. The pita bread was dry and flavourless and the salads were watery and bland.

Now reading the other reviews who had similar experiences I can understand why I was so annoyed last night. I will never spend another dollar at Orexi...

I ordered a plain lamb souvlaki, so there was no ingredients for the meat to hide behind. The first bite tasted like a mix of faint tomato and lemon. The second bite left a bitter tang on the side and back of my tongue often associated with meat on the turn or off. The chips, once I got past the overwhelming amount of overcompensating chicken salt, tasted as if the oil had been cooking fried food and hadn’t been changed for weeks. This mixed with a colour of yellow food dye in a powder coating of salt like snow.

In desperation not to waste the meat, I offered it to my dog, who spent several minutes deliberating if this was a trap or her human’s bad judgement. Our trust is forever broken.

I am writing this review from a bathroom cubical, regretting the last 3 hours of my life.

Was told the food was epic so we went for dinner yesteday. The food was really really good, meats cooked to perfection, sides all tasty and authentic. What let it down? The service! We visited as a couple but ate as 2 separate people with one of us getting our food 30 mins before the other. The younger staff are clearly overwhelmed by the volume of customers and the male staff just point and order them about from behind the counter rather than actually get on the floor and deal with the issues. We asked to see a manager after the long wait and disaster with the timing, we waited 20 mins but they never came. Would recommend the food for sure but if you're gonna go, get a takeaway. At least then your family can eat as a family and you won't be surrounded by other customers complaining about...
