Had a friend take us here for the first time and heres my experience: Food was 5/5 we got the strawberry matcha with oat milk in a small and the portion was pretty big (still dreaming about this drink) but it does taste better when you mix the strawberry milk with matcha foam (in my opinion as I found the strawberry sweet and together with the bitter matcha was perfect) Birria toastie: Large portion, juicy and filling beef, lots of cheese (see video for cheese pull) and the consume was perfectly seasoned (tangy, savoury, meaty) and paired so well with the birria toastie itself. I actually only finished 1/2 of the toastie and brought the other half home and demolished it. Please note that because I went on a Saturday I think it was a āweekend specialā only so you may not be able to get it during the weekdays. Spam and Egg bagel with spicy mayo: Canāt go wrong with spam, egg and mayo. The only thing with spam is it can get quite salty but other than that review my partner demolished it and rated it a 4/5 Apple Fritter: Crispy yet soft doughnut, with big sweetened and crisp chunks of apples. Perfect item to snack on as its deep fried. 5/5 Service: Prompt service, only waited for what felt like about ?5-10 minutes for everything to come out. Their service was good. They gave my straw upside down but it was an easy fix (just asked for a new straw). Atmosphere: Its just a small humble area and can be pretty packed, when we went luckily a customer had left but it was a 1:3 ratio due to the table size being for 2 people max but we fit 3 and it was a bit cramped. For that I give it a 4/5 stars but that cannot be helped.
Overall it costed roughly $49.0 for the toastie, bagel, drink...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really love the desserts options. They do often sell out but it understanable when they are this consistently good. I recommend their ube coconut and turon donuts. Super sweet but this place slogan is Treat Day so idk what u would think lmao.
However, the savory options are extremely limited and leaves much to be desired.
I do think their sandwiches are more saltier that it over takes everything.
Their loganisa muffin is too fatty for a breakfast sandwich.
Their PR Reuban was wayyy too salty (it had pastrami and pickles which is expected but added salted flakes on top? Itās just salt and sour everywhere. Itās too much).
Their salmon bagel is pretty standard and the same as any smoked salmon bagel from anywhere else. Itās not that special which confuses me why itās in this menu.
BMT also kinda salty but not toasted? Which is odd bc the other sandwiches i had from them had been toasted/warmed up for me. But also, itās just not a very good sandwich. Tastes kinda bleh. Did i mention it was salty?
They took off the one savoury item in the menu that was a good balance between salty, sweet and umami and it was the prosciutto focaccia. It was the only sandwich that didnt make me drink 10L of water everytime i took a bite.
I also had their matcha latte. Never again. It was too bitter and still powdery? Disgusting. But their ube latte was nice but thatās bc ube tastes good in anything.
TL;DR: Go for their desserts and not for their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate: Went back and tried the poached pear cinnamon scroll with ginger caramel custard and cardamom glaze (monthly special). Fancy and interesting. Lots of different flavours and textures. A surprise in the toasted, almost burnt flavour (in a good way) of the sticky toffee coated pecans. Thereās something wrong with my tastebuds though because I missed the cardamom (and the ginger). But if youād told me I was eating a cinnamon scroll Iād tell you it was the nicest one Iāve had in a very long time. Also had a staff favourite - a simple vanilla glazed doughnut. You canāt photograph the texture of springy dough when chewed. So satisfying. I am once again reminded to my great annoyance that the simple things are often the best.
Original review: $7 ube donut could be the first underwhelming experience Iāve had with my purple yam adventure yet. Didnāt seem to be filled, more cream-piled-on-top. The actual donut was suitably soft and gooey. Needed a stronger ube flavour. Too much cream and way too much sickly icing sugar sweetness for me!
The $4 ube and white chocolate brownie by Baking with Rikka, on the other hand, was great! Lovely soft and fudgey texture. Yes white chocolate is very sweet but the ube flavour is so good here it gets...
