Would I recommend you eat at Peking Yummy Duck? Absolutely I would not.
The service, was a mix of both good and bad, the majority of staff members seemed un-experienced (Which there's nothing wrong with), however some examples were just down right unacceptable. We were first served warm drinks, when handling a bottle you should be able to tell whether or not it's cold, It's just common sense. This was corrected, another staff member then took down our orders, I watched her write down everything we ordered, yet we were still missing dishes as they came out. The staff members also would interrupt our conversations asking if we would like more drinks. To some of you, this may been seen as good service. This is also a tactic that many businesses use, It's putting you on the spot, and to people who are anxious or get over-whelmed, they may be inclined to say yes, just because it makes the customer feel like they are inconveniencing the staff. I'm not saying that Peking Yummy Duck employ these dirty tactics, but please be aware, and to the staff at Peking Yummy Duck, the correct table etiquette is to approach the table and await acknowledgement, not interrupt conversations. You may think I'm over-reacting, but when It happens a total of 7 times throughout your meal, It really starts to annoy you.
The food, The price, expensive (Very expensive). Not something I'm complaining about though, we chose to eat at the restaurant, full-well knowing the price beforehand. What I'm complaining about is the quality and quantity of the food, small portions, very oily and the battered dishes (In my opinion) were terrible. For the prices you charge, I would be expecting much more generous and higher quality dishes. What I was most offended by however, the star dish of the restaurant, the "Whole" Peking duck. This is absolutely not on, advertising a "Whole" Peking duck, only to watch the chef slice off around 70% of the available meat and then take the rest of your duck away! But don't worry, for a small fee of $15 you can then be served the rest of your "Whole Peking duck" as an extra meal. (See the attached image). Not only is this totally unacceptable and deceptive, It's not even the worst part! The actual quality of the meat, terrible. Served tiny, thin and yet somehow tough, lacking flavour. The dish is in the name of your restaurant, very disappointing. (Picture of the Honey chicken is to show that they forgot one of our dishes)
The atmosphere, Not much to say here, It's your average Asian take out, all the cultural bell's and whistles, a fish tank, and nothing to help balance the distribution of sound. I couldn't hear anything my other guests were speaking about on the opposite side of my table, without raising our voices. This is not really a bad thing, just something overlooked by most restaurants, the only advice I can offer Is to install some kind of sound absorption, It's cheap.
So just like I said at the start, I would not recommend you eat here. In my opinion, there is much more than meets the eye here.
I can tell you personally, save your hard earned $$$, there are plenty of places to eat that will serve you better quality food and in larger quantities, for less $. You could walk 2 minutes up Keilor RD and find them.
To Peking Yummy Duck, I really hope you take what I'm saying on board, you need to do better and really need to sort out your menu. It's very deceptive.

Read moreTerrible Experience at Peeking Yummy Duck – Would Not Recommend
My family and I recently visited Peeking Yummy Duck for a special occasion—three family members celebrating birthdays. Unfortunately, our experience was far from enjoyable.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the restaurant was poorly organized. They had two seating sessions—one at 5:30 pm and another at 7:30 pm—and we were assigned to the later one. When we arrived, the staff seemed overwhelmed and unprepared, which made us feel like an inconvenience rather than appreciated guests.
The service was disorganized at best. Our dishes weren’t cleaned up or cleared away before the food arrived, which was quite unappetizing and disruptive to our celebration. The staff appeared overworked and unresponsive, and it seemed like they were struggling to keep up with the volume of guests. Despite having a small team, they tried to serve all the tables at once, leading to long waits and chaos.
We also encountered a rude and dismissive manager who showed little regard for our family’s experience. This only added to our disappointment and made us feel unwelcome.
On a positive note, the food itself was quite nice—if only the service matched the quality of the dishes. Unfortunately, the overall treatment and the disorganization overshadowed any culinary enjoyment.
Overall, I would not recommend this place based on how we...
Read moreChina max used to be better. Feels a bit tired. The food has slipped a bit. Pre-covid, we got takeaways quite often for 6 years. Just got my first China Max takeaway post Covid two years, & they seem to be a bit average. I'll still go back a few more times, might have been a one off. Edit 8/2/25. I've been asked to remove my revue of this restaurant. It has changed ownership. However, I've since had multiple takeaway meals from the new owners Peking Yummy Duck restaurant & the review I posted on Door dash was scathing! Two of the worst meals I've ever had! From anywhere! If this is the quality you're serving, you deserve to go out of business; lift your game & I'll change my review. Just some context here as well- I'm an ex chef of 20+ yrs exp' in high quality restaurants & high quality, high volume catering. I know what food is worth, I know disgraceful practices when I see them. And the food I was served last time from "Peking Yummy Duck Restaurant" is born purely out of bad food practices &...
