Phat Burger Bar — Restaurant in Melbourne

Been here twice before and food and service was great (think because the owner was there). This time not so good...

Deal was on for the Tradie burger at $12 each but the dude nearly charged us $14 had it not been for my brother questioning the price. Honest mistake, fair enough, but then the food was just super disappointing...

Same guy gave us the thick shakes without straws and didn't say a thing. We then went up to the counter and asked for straws. Out of stock... What? Seems like a pretty tricky thing to be out of stock of. Even if we had straws I reckon the thick shakes would have been pretty hard to drink because there were massive chunks of ice cream and it wasn't blended at all.

To top it off, the paddy, cheese, egg, and bun were all burnt to the point the inside of the bun was black, egg was crisped etc. We kindly let the guy know, all he did was smiled and nodded, not even a sorry. We weren't expecting anything, but would've been nice to acknowledge the issue a bit more and maybe offer a remedy.

Took them 20 mins to get food to table and wasn't busy at all. Overall poor service and poor food.

Hoping to give this place another chance, but I think the team on deck today let the experience...

Staff were friendly though seating is quite limited. So if it's cold outside, you'll be limited to a couple small tables inside. Based on what I saw, they rely heavily on take away and Uber Eats/Deliveroo.

Regarding the food: the quantity offered, along with the quality of ingredients and the price, make this place amazing! The burger I ordered was the spicy one and it was juicy, tasty, and had just the right amount of kick to it. The chicken tenders were well seasoned though could've used a side dip, the haloumi popcorn was a pleasant and the chips were good.

We also had a small double cheese burger. While it was good, could've used more sauce.

Overall, definitely recommend for burger fans...

Have to shout out this team for great customer service. Ordered on Deliveroo and some mix up happened and I was missing a burger as part of the order. Called them to let them know - without hesitation they sent someone with the burger… as they were closing… on a rainy night. The team are legends! And the burger was on point - they use an amazing sauce and seasoning which makes it some of best burgers in the southeast. The popcorn haloumi is addictive! I know they’ve had issues on some comments, just hope they can deal with these delivery platforms - they take such a massive cut and then mess up orders and restaurants suffer. But I appreciate the service to fix the issue...
