OMG
Thank you Google as you did recommend this place when we just asked about places near us, with no idea about anything here. And what a good recommendation.
And thank you Pixel.
So, if you're young, you will love it. No question. Consoles, games, lively crowd etc etc. And friendly? Everyone I spoke with chatted openly and happily like we already knew each other.
But if you're slightly more mature (us), you might be in two minds. Don't be. The ambiance, atmosphere, service and general aura are amazing.
Over the course of the evening, we were served by Rhys and Sam, and they both deserve promotions. We were not only made to feel welcome, but important too. Like our business counted. Like we were important. I actually felt like I might be a local. We stayed way later and bought more drinks than we expected (thanks Lee, the designated, non drinking driver) because we just didn't feel like leaving.
It was a delight to be served by them as we didn't really know what we wanted (we're English, but have lived in Spain for over 15 years, so the local brews didn't really mean anything to us), but they offered a couple of tasters and had all the time in the world for us.
To be honest, if I lived in Melbourne, I would probably stop going elsewhere as the service here is amazing, the drinks quality is first class, and the prices are so low, you'd think they were illegal.
They're not!
And they had a beer named after my car: Yeti. And it was very tasty. Try it.
So, seriously. This is a cool,'though clearly trendy, place. Oh to be 30 years (ok, 40), younger.
Thank you Pixel. Very well done. Clearly, I can't sing your praises enough. But all 4 of us thought the same.
5 stars,...
Read moreIt was a little hard to find this place and if you weren't going there specifically you'd probably walk or drive straight past it. Really cool decor, looks like it's all being thrown together out of someone's grunge garage but it's fantastic. The guy behind the bar was awesome and super friendly, coffee was great and what they call a medium is probably everybody else's large. I ordered three medium for $13.50, which is a great price, top marks there. Overall it was quiet, though. There was a table of people in the back room playing D & D? I couldn't see any prices for game times and I'm assuming the board games are just a help yourself type of thing. The only negatives I will mention would be on a couple of tables there were various motherboards, parts, towers that had been dismantled, lots and lots of little bits and pieces but there was no indication if it was actually someone's build or if it was there to look at and play around with, there should probably be some kind of sign up to say feel free to have a play, put it back together if you want or please don't touch this is someone's baby. That and listening to the group of incredibly annoying Hipster Millennials talk about how the game fortnite mimicked their lives and how uncanny it was and what if the developers had spied on them to create the platform.. Yeah,...
Read moreIt's the perfect mix between a bar and a gaming cafe.
They have a nice selection of alcohol which goes down well with some Age of Empires 2 or one of the other games available for free at one of the dozen or so computers available. Be sure to ask a staff member to log you into the guest Steam accounts if you don't have a game yourself and want to play with friends.
There also nice food options and milkshakes(!!!), though I have yet to try any myself.
In general the place has a nice mood and appears to run events fairly often for your entertainment. It's the perfect little gathering spot for some of your more, dare I say, geeky friends. I highly recommend the Pixel bar if you like video games, alcohol, and meeting people with...
