I absolutely love Portone Pizza! It has quickly become my go-to pizza spot in St Kilda. The wood-fired pizzas they serve are simply divine. The crust is perfectly crisp, and the flavours are out of this world. What sets Portone Pizza apart from other pizzerias is the occasional live performances they host. It adds such a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere to the place. I love indulging in the live entertainment while waiting for my pizza. It truly makes the whole experience more memorable and exciting. The staff at Portone Pizza are incredibly friendly and welcoming. When it comes to their pizzas, I have two all-time favourites that I can't recommend enough. The Carne Pizza is a carnivore's dream come true. The combination of perfectly seasoned meats creates an explosion of flavours in every bite. And then there's the Salumi Pizza, which showcases a selection of Italian cured meats that perfectly complement the wood-fired crust. These pizzas are culinary masterpieces that keep me coming back for more. If you're in St Kilda and craving some extraordinary pizza, look no further than Portone Pizza. Their wood-fired creations, quick service, lively ambiance, and friendly staff make it an absolute gem. Give it a try, and prepare to indulge in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently ordered a Zucca pizza from this shop and was a first time customer there. I had high expectations of this restaurant based on online reviews, but I cannot say I enjoyed this pizza. The strips of 'roasted' pumpkin were very mushy like they were piped on the pizza or something. It let down the whole pizza imho. So I took the time to pass on constructive feedback to the owner via FB. Now you'd think they'd offer to remake the pizza right? Wrong. For my troubles I got this smarmy response....
"Hi thank's for tips on how to make a pizza. Much appreciated. This is one of our best selling pizza's and many regulars come back for it week in week out. And there are many other veterinarian pizza's on the menu. All the customers are extremely happy with the Zucca pizza. But thank you so much for the feedback. Portone......."
So my advice is if you eat at this place...don't bother contacting the owner if you're not happy with something. It's a complete waste of time. Just find another restaurant which doesn't patronize its customers for the 'crime' of passing on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm not sure if this restaurant is under new management but I did not have the same experience as the other reviewers, unfortunately.
Whilst the staff were lovely it seemed that it was everybody's first shift (ever) at the restaurant. My friend and I were advised that wine and beer was available and when I asked for a glass of pinot grigio, the waiter responded with, "That's the white wine, right?"
My friend's pizza was soggy in the middle, which could have been the shape of the plate it was served on, but then why serve it on that plate?! According to my friend the rest of the pizza wasn't magnificent.
And my gluten free pizza was a store-bought base. Whilst I understand that a lot of restaurants don't have the capacity to cater to gluten free patrons I do feel like we should be told what we'll be getting. To expect me to pay an additional $4 for a base when the original pizza ingredients aren't used is ridiculous.
Some candles on the tables were lit while others weren't. All in all this was a really disappointing experience after a local...
