Ramen & Dumpling House Doncaster East 香辣小菜馆 — Restaurant in Melbourne

Aiya! How can I not telling you about this restaurant? This restaurant is one of my favourite restaurants in Jackson Court, Doncaster East. Why? The food is great. If you want simple authentic Chinese food, this is the place to go. The price is reasonable. The staff are friendly. I don’t know why some people told me the staff in this restaurant are rude. But I never experienced it. Perhaps those people who told me the staff are rude, they should have think about their actions in this restaurant. Were you demanding this and that when the restaurant was busy? Don’t you dare to think that I paid for the food and service, so I want it now!!! Back to the sharing, as far as I know the chef and the kitchen hands, they have prepared the food on site in the early hours, so they would not rush to prepare and cook the meals, then serve badly to their customers. Just love their food, so tasteful without too salty or oily. Good job! I’ll come back for the more...

I have a rule where if there is a menu item named after the restaurant or if the restaurant is named after a food type (ie Ramen & Dumpling in this case) then I always try that dish. If you name your restaurant after it it must be good right? Well I tried the Dumplings (not Ramen though, can't have both, we're not barbarians), it was decent (for the price), would have again. The bottom wasn't crispy though, which I don't mind but some people do. Only other gripe is they don't provide a 🥣 for the dipping Vinegar, only a very flat 🍽 (see photo) and being the millennial ❄ that I am, instead of asking the waiter for one like a normal person, I just used my drinking cup (see photo), adapt and overcome as they say in the Marines 💪. Last night my wife and I walked in and waited to be acknowledged & seated. We were ignored by the (senior aged) waitress who was putting and placing tea cups, etc on the tables. She would not look at us and continued her task knowing we were present. The staff member behind the register was busy with a device and also would not look up to acknowledge us. There were only three other people in the restaurant eating, so not like they were busy at 6.15pm. This business and its staff clearly do not value their customers. We enjoy dining out, supporting local businesses and sharing/recommending good places to enjoy a meal. This one has been struck off our list and we won’t be returning to give them another chance to treat us...
