Reading Room Cafe. — Restaurant in Melbourne

Love coming here before classes especially for a nice cafe vibe.

Food is great and the staff are lovely except this one Asian guy maybe in his 30s with glasses. He never smiles, and often gets customers’ orders wrong…Even then I noticed he doesn’t apologise to the customers…..he got my order wrong once and he didn’t apologise and his response was that I didn’t relay my order correctly (not in those exact words).

I’m also a barista and have been coming here a while since last year and more regularly this year now that I’m full-time and he’s never once said ‘hello, good morning, thank you etc.” Dude never looks happy and maybe shouldn’t be in customer service..

Everyone else is very lovely and they’re why I keep coming here 😊💛 only giving 2 stars for service because of your one team member.

I order two sweet chill chicken sandwiches toasted and paid. The worker took one and put it in the toaster, A lady behind me order a sweet chill chicken sandwiches too and paid. As I went to collect my order after 30 mins, the lady lies to my face and said there was only one left. When there was clearly two there and she was holding one to give to the lady who order behind me! WORST...

The staff here are amazingly friendly. Their coffee is well made and I've never have to wait too long. There's inside seating for the colder days and in summer the doors fold back to allow easier access to the outside seating. A great little Cafe on campus it also has a range of quick (heat and serve style) lunch options, sandwiches, sausage rolls, pastries,...
