Tucked away in an old Footscray Plaza, this humble restaurant is run by a warm couple to some truly delicious Viet dishes. From familiar favorites to dishes we've never tried before, everything here tasted rustic, cozy, and had us wanting more. And if you ever get a chance to visit, you simply must order their speciality homemade yoghurt drink (it’s yogurt on crack). Here's are the highlights:

🌮 Banh Xeo (Sizzling Rice Pancake) One of our favorite dishes of all time, this one really brought us back to our trip to Vietnam 2 years ago. Crispy batter, a wholesome filling, wrapped with fresh lettuce and herbs, this is the dish you must try if you've never had it before. And if you have had it, you know its never too much.

🍚 Banh Beo (Steamed Rice Cake) The standout of the night, this dish has basically every flavor and texture you want all steamed together in a neat little package. It's really difficult to put into words the explosion of flavors from each bite of this dish so it's best to try it yourself.

🍖 Banh Hoi (Vermicelli with Grilled Pork) A personal favorite of ours; there's just something very special about Vietnamese grilled meat. The sweet, savory, and sour contrasts perfectly with the fine vermicelli that this dish is served with.

🥟 Banh Bot Loc (Tapioca Dumplings) Every bit as chewy, soft, and flavored as you would hope - like most other things on the table - the bite-sized form factor make these dumplings are just big enough for you to enjoy a new dish, while small enough to keep you hungry and...

Minh, who is the wise looking man who was friendly and hospitable during our first time there. Generous serving for 2 at reasonable prices for authentic Vietnamese dishes you can't find under one roof. We got the Vietnamese pancake, which was crispy and served with a decent plate of greens/herbs. Minh gave us simple instructions to follow on how to eat some of the dishes because it was my mate's first time trying these dishes.

We came after the lunch time rush and it was 1 third full and quiet enough for us to hear ourselves talk, which is great when it's with Minh. He is quite the character, and he spent time at our table having an engaging conversation. It was unexpectedly thought provoking with the questions he was asking and truths he has collected in his life. We appreciated his wisdom and humour. He is willing to answer any life question and give you an honest answer.

Please note that it's cash only (there are signs everywhere) so come prepared otherwise it may be inconvenient to get money from an atm.

I coudn't fault the food and I can understand why it has high google reviews. We will...

Delicious.

A hidden gem of a place that serves food so authentic that the uncle that’s taking your order, willl simply walk away when he thinks you’ve ordered too much or it’s too big an order to get to you in a short time. Hahaha.

It’s not a place you’d take a first date, but definitely a someone -you -love -that -will -appreciate -a -good -modest -feed -while -filling -your -wait -with- great -conversation type of place.

The Vietnamese white ice coffee is some of the best we’ve tried yet. We ordered number 1,2 and 7 on the menu and they were divine. Especially the little steamed rice cakes in number 7, which is a tasting platter for the other dishes we didn’t order that day.

It’s just one of those meals that leave you happy and satisfied. Our entire meal for 2 people cost $70 and cash only. Reasonable for what we ordered, a bit funny to think that it would probably be much cheaper to eat this comfort food everyday in Vietnam, but instead of buying a ticket, you just pay for the experience here!

I hope they keep serving delicious food for...

Just a husband and wife crew so temper your expectation on the pace of food coming out at this place. It is so worth it though as everything we ordered tasted amazing - fresh, quality ingredients used and it felt like eating at a family friend's home than at a restaurant. Brisk, no frills service, signature black tea flask and facial tiasue box at the table, this is as authentic as it gets. Food was non-greasy, cooked to perfection crispiness for chicken mince wrapped sticky rice and the banh xeo. The fresh young herbs accompaniments really elevated the dishes. The Banh canh Bot loc cha ca was tapioca noodle soup was full of depth and flavour with good texture in the noodles. Would recommend to visit during non-busy periods as it can take up to 40mins for your dish to come.

This is what I definitely call a hidden gem. It’s walking through a small shopping centre where most of the things were closed around 5:45 pm. Saw this one with a 4.9 review so was a little bit sceptical in the beginning. Went with a group of people…..:.we all thought WOW! It does deserve 5 stars and beyond! Even though it takes a bit of time, food was so homey, so fresh, such big portions. You get a gigantic plate of lettuce and leaves. Price for 4 dishes and an entrée was less than $100. They only take cash so make sure to have some before going. Who seemed to look like the owner, offered a great service and was very kind and warm. You definitely have to try and we would unquestionably be coming back again.
