Super poor customer experiences I just had. The checkout ladies (old lady, middle aged and young adult) are ALL very rude. First of all, the products are not correctly labelled with prices or have no price tags available on shelves. This is super misleading where I go to pick up some tofu where the price tags around say $2-4. But when you check out, you can’t see their screen which shows the actual prices. Looked at my receipt and this tofu was almost $10? I asked for a refund and they said No refunds only exchanges. I asked to go get a price check as the labels clearly mislead me, they go check and they see no prices for this $10 TOFU? I speak to them in an appropriate manner and ask where the $10 price tag is. They get the middle aged chinese lady involved and she is FIRM on the $10 price and starts arguing with me in chinese. Hello where is the customer service?? I get it chinese people are RUDE because I come from the same culture BUT IF YOU ARE RUNNING A BUSINESS YOU SHOULD BE NICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS WHO ARE TRYING TO SUPPORT YOUR BUSINESS DURING THIS PANDEMIC. And keep in mind, being in a asian suburb, the SUPERMARKET GIANTS ALL STOCK ASIAN FOODS. I CAN EASILY GO SHOP THERE.
Oh and I got my refund, and I told the middle aged lady that is what I wanted from the start, and she said “NO WORRY I GIVE U REFUND IF U NO HAPPY OKAY”. Like cmon, telling customers no refunds allowed but then suddenly allowing it. This could have been avoided at the start. ALSO telling customers no refunds is actually illegal and goes against the ACL. LOOK IT UP.
I’ve been coming to this specific KFL for over 10 years. Mainly when I was a kid with my parents but now that I live in Footscray I’ve been coming here more often by myself. BUT NOT ANYMORE. I am all for supporting local businesses and I will continue to do so at OTHER asian groceries in Footscray.
I understand this is a family owned business but maybe y’all should get family therapy and work on your anger management and how to...
Read moreI can't believe that I need to write a review like this. We shop weekly at KFL Footscray, even though the shelves are half empty and the place is a mess, it is convenient to my house Yesterday for the 1st time in my life, I was publically accused of stealing by the old check out lady I had just paid and then out of nowhere she grabbed my bag and told me to open it up because she has seen me "put things in there". I was shocked but I opened the zip on my backpack which has been up until then on my back the entire time. She shoved her skeletal arm in and rummaged around my clothes and shoes. She then said "I saw you stealing -open up the other zips". So there I am basically emptying my dirty gym stuff with her poking at everything. When it was obvious she was wrong she just thrust my receipt at me. There was no apology, not even a thank you. I understand and accept bag check policies but to loudly and erroneously accuse someone of stealing and insist despite evidence is absolutely disgraceful and unacceptable. If the owner reads this - maybe stop running the place like a 1970's dystopian communist gulag and you might actually get a few customers I will never ever return. There are much nicer, better stocked Asian places in the West who deserve customers. Update - the Kimchi is 2 weeks past use by date. Will throw away rather...
Read moreI've been supporting KFL for many years and usually frequent the Kensington store (who are wonderful). I went to the Footscray store today with my 7 month old son in his pram. Like most people leaving negative reviews, I also experienced the rude older female cashier at the front desk. She checked my pram twice and tried to check behind my child. I was extremely uncomfortable as she was wearing ripped and dirty single use gloves, rifling through my baby's supplies. Which will now all need to be sanitised. It was a mortifying experience and I sadly will not be returning. As someone who has worked in the retail industry for many years, I completely understand the need to check bags but touching personal belongings (and checking behind a 7 month old baby?!) crosses the line. I won't ever step foot in that...
