I bought a gift for my wife to learn kite surfing, I am a kite surfer and I have had lessons before from one of the more reputable kite schools. The lessons provided to my wife were of poor quality, poor timeliness and poor customer service. When we provided an outline of the issues where there were gaps in the training the following reasons were rudely provided by both the school manager and the Sandy beach HQ Beach hut manager:
Your wife is incompetent and didn't retain the core safety knowledge. Your wife left early because she said she was cold and so didn't complete the lesson. (The kite popped) My wife was told to complete her lessons with me after the instructor ran out of time. She felt she didnt get enough quality time with instructor - This is your wifes fault for not raising or what do you expect in a group lesson ? Its a groupon voucher I only did it to get more business. What do you expect ?
A bit of advice, when your customers are unhappy you should either A. Offer a refund or B. offer additional lessons and make sure those lessons are of excellent quality.
No wonder they have a bad reputation in the kite world of which I only found out afterwards - steer clear of the voucher trick, it's cheap for a reason and none of them good.

Read moreLocation is to die for. On one of the most popular beach areas in Bayside Melbourne. Sandringham Yacht Club across the road, freshly minted dog beach lapping at the doorstep, plenty of space infront of the cafe for kids and dogs to run wild. Tables outside, inside, upstairs and downstairs. So, what’s it like? It does a fair job serving a range of different customer categories and needs as well as disparate service locations. The Hampton/Sandringham patronage can be hard to please most of the time, many of them seem to think places like this are set up just to please each of them individually. So ignore local reviews that rubbish the place. Food is reliable, coffee can be great (and not so great), but if your old and fussy, like some of my friends, really plead your special requests (hot, strong etc) at time of ordering. Go upstairs, some lovely photos of local history of a time long past....
Read moreI had a Stand Up Paddleboard Lesson with Ben. We had a mixed group of adults and children. Ben was really fantastic amd I learnt a lot. He was really patient, encouraging and generous with his time. After the lesson we all had 30min to have some free time and invite anyaccompanying family members to come and try paddleboarding. He did warn us not to wear our sunglases as they usually sink it you fall off and mine did sink so be aware if you want to wear sunglasses and it's your first time maybe get a service station pair just in case! Also I chose to kneel for much of the time and I rubbed some skin off the tops of my toes as they were pressed against the board so if I did this again I may get surf socks or booties but that's just me. If you have ever wanted to try SUP this is the place to do ir. Great cafe for a milkshake of coffee ...
