Terrible service! Got seated at a dirty table and I politely asked for a high chair and to wipe the table. Took 15 mins to bring out a high chair, which was filthy. Still no menu or water for the table offered. Staff didn’t even look at me and ask if I wanted anything. Meantime, I saw the staff were talking to all their friends who were visiting the cafe. I don’t mind waiting, but 15 mins when you have a baby in your lap and no acknowledgment from the cafe, is just rude! I finally got up and left, again no acknowledgment. On my way out, there was another young mum sitting at a table with her baby in a high chair; she just received her brunch and didn’t have cutlery. Again, no staff around to help her and she obviously can’t leave the table. I saw that, and passed her the cutlery from one of the other tables. I never leave bad reviews, but I just couldn’t believe the service was this bad! There are plenty of other cafes around bayside with great service, really...

I'm puzzled by how this cafe manages to maintain a 4.5-star review. The service was far from satisfactory. We arrived at 2:40, only to find them in the process of closing. Aware that last-minute customers can be inconvenient, we politely inquired if they were still open. Upon confirmation, we ordered two coffees. Despite the wait of 10 minutes, the staff showed no willingness to assist when we requested a table clean-up. Upon receiving our coffees, the staff assumed we had ordered take-away, which was not specified. It felt as though we were denied basic service because we opted for coffee only. It is so easy to get used to the Melbourne style brunch culture. When I headed to the beach 🏖 in the morning, I just wanted to grab a quick coffee after my arrival at the train station.

The quick coffee-to-go trip ended in a full burger 🍔 and chips dish with an unplanned cold brew. The chips were so delicious, that I quickly ordered a second portion and the burger was unbelievable juicy, I wished I had space for a second one too. The cold brew was very special. Although the roast profile was rather on the dark side, the lemon 🍋 slice gave it a bright, citric note. That was a perfectly refreshing caffein fix to start into the weekend.
