If I am in Bayside city council, I prefer this dog beach because it's very accessible. The car park is a short walk to the foreshore, toilets, water, dog bags, kiosk, making it a very convenient time out with the dogs. The beach in itself is a long stretch of shallow water, perfect for zoomies and kids to paddle in. However, in some areas the water quickly dips in and is deep quickly, so can be dangerous for humans, but perfect for swimming dogs. The area can be a bit smelly. Nice locals and respectful dog owners. There's a small pier, ok access for wheelchair or 4 wheel walker. We walked an elderly 4 wheel walker on the pier then down onto the hard wet sand, then pushed the walker near the water, it was ok. Once a month there's the Bayside Famers Market on, it gets very busy very quickly making it difficult to find carpark, and can be quite noisy for a nervous pup. Parking per hour is $5.70, unless you park in near by streets and walk down, but it's a fair walk. The Sandy kiosk sells meat pies, breakfast, teas coffee's, unfortunately no fish and chips. The kiosk is attached to a surf hire/schoool, which usually park their canoes on the sand at the foreshore, but still plenty of space for doggies to run around. Plenty of access to water, and outside shower to wash dog, humans or feet afterwards. Toilets/bathroom are new and quite...
Read moreThis beach is off leash all year round.
There is a 750m long section of sand and shallow water which is great for dogs whether they like running along the beach, having a swim or a wade through the shallows. There are bins in the area and a track from the pier leads to toilets, water tap with dog bowl and the Sandy Beach kiosk.
There are a number of paths down to the beach. Jetty Road leads to several car parks at the Hampton Pier end which have paid parking (8am - 8pm). There is also a carpark on the north side of Trevor Barker oval. A few tracks lead down from Beach Road. Parking next to the beach is expensive but it is possible to find some free parking if you are willing to walk a bit.

Read moreNice spacious beach. Lots of shallow water to wade through. Bins for dog poo. No dog poo bags available though. There's a little shower and dog bowl for water at the showers next to a little cafe. One section of the beach next to the pier has a very stinky seaweed muck dark brown sand otherwise the rest of the beach is lovely. Most dogs are off lead. Most owners are in control of their dogs. Haven't seen any real dog fights or issues there which I think is partly due to how much space there is for dogs to get away from each...
