Schnitz Doncaster — Restaurant in Melbourne

There is no such thing as customer at the restaurant in Westfield Doncaster.

Back in early February this year, we were issued a Free Chips voucher, due to an accidental error made with an in store order we purchased at the end of January, at the Burwood One store.

This review is NOT about the store at Burwood One. They’re amazing we’re extremely apologetic about the error - hence the voucher.

We were informed that all Schnitz stores would accept this voucher, even though it had expired, as it was initialled, had the correct size of chips written down and the voucher numbered. The Schnitz register systems would automatically decline them, however the manager had the ability to override this in order for it to be redeemed.

On Friday 24th February, we placed an order at the Doncaster store and attempted to redeem our voucher.

We were initially served by a young trainee who unsuccessfully tried but wasn’t able to process the voucher. Another lady was called over, but again, no success.

The apparent “manager” was then called over, he looked at the voucher and we were then immediately

1. accused of altering it,
2. told it had expired,
3. had it thrown back at us saying we were not allowed to redeem it and nothing else could be done.

We asked him for his name and was immediately told no, then asked why?

Once we explain that we were going to follow this up and complain, he became more adamant that he would not provide his name.

I have a photo of the gentleman in question, should anyone choose to contact me and follow this up. It is proof as it has the date and time that we were at the store. I also have my receipt and voucher which is still yet to be redeemed.

Kindness costs nothing and at the end of the day if you can be part of the process in righting an error - why...

Ordered a schnitzel and chips which has a large billboard and is also flashing on all the screens as a special. I asked for the special and was then told am I a member, which I'm not but nothing was advised by the attended how to sign up nothing. Would you like some thing else 🙄😳

Seriously it's flashing on your menu boards it on a solid mount board to the right hand side of the counter its constantly on another advertising screen and you have to sign up for the special.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of considering you staff don't say well if you sign up using the link on our Website and while you do that I'll get your food ready.

I spose just a sign of the times where the business's advertise something that is unattainable.

Disappointing from a large chain such as schnitz, you don't have a special advertised item on the menuboard at KFC or Mecca's and then say no that's only if you order through our app.

And I can't add photos of their dirty trays and the advertising on the menu boards

I think I'll go else where...

TERRIBLE doesn’t even begin to describe the experience I had here. I ordered the loaded chicken Schnitzel with spicy crumps and large sweet potato chips. Around 7-8 people ordered after me, and some of those orders were small so it’s understandable they will be ready first, but some had large orders that got their food before me. That wasn’t the upsetting part however, when I got the food, the staff brought it to me in a box only, and asked me if I wanted a bag. I mean cmon am I really going to carry a box with me? It’s takeaway so of course I needed a bag. Then I look inside the box and this is what I see. I specifically requested large sweet potato chips but they didn’t put that in. They put the chips on top of the chicken Parma and they all got soggy and inedible. I’m NEVER coming back...
