Scintilla Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

We live close by and have been to this place few times.

Food- price is ok for the amount of food/presentation. The flavours and seasoning were great as well as presentation.

Service- I’m not sure why their waiting staff are all men. I’m not sure if that is every time as we usually go here on weekends only. The service from the male waiters are borderline poor and arrogant. Some of them don’t even smile or they serve your food like they are upset or you owe them something that kind of thing (although I must say they are good looking). Also, no table service and you have to get stuff yourself like water etc. and pay and order at counter first.

Atmosphere- great atmosphere as the spot is above street level so it feels like you have a ‘view’ especially when you are seated outside. The place is also bright and airy with high ceilings and conducive to a nice catch up with friends/family.

I didn't want to give this cafe a 1 star review but felt like I didn't have a choice after the absolutely TERRIBLE customer service I experienced. I walked into the cafe and was knocked over by a lady who didn't apologise or even look my way. This lady turned out who I assume to be the manager, she took our order from behind the counter and the first thing she said was 'what do you want?' in the rudest tone. She then proceeded to have a chat and a giggle with a coworker behind the bench when I was halfway through talking, and she put a finger up at me to tell me to stop ordering my food and wait for her to be done. I have never ever experienced such poor customer service. It's such a shame as the food was definitely worth 5 stars, but the customer service from this lady was appalling. As someone who works in hospitality myself and has for years, I'd never want a customer to have the experience...

Lovely bright & airey Cafe , great menu to suit the fussiest eaters. Gluten free options , vegetarian & all others . Savouries & sweet tooth's catered for . Our table had all differing orders including Prawn Pasta , Burger , Big Breakfast , Chicken Parma , Italian Omelette then Butterscotch Pudding , Orange Citrus Cake , Lemon & Almond Cheesecake , Lemon Citrus Tart , Vanilla Slice all made on site & washed down with beautiful Coffee , Tea , Juices , Iced Chocolate & Hot Chocolate .
