Read moreTHREATS OF STABBING by DRUNK Hostile Patron in this Venue with inadequate (ONLY ONE SECURITY GUARD) security staffing. Long Weekend Sunday night & very busy venue. My Wife and I dropped by here to have a relaxing end of evening and quiet drink. We arrived at 11.19PM and left at 1.28AM (thanks to Google tracking I am certain of this time frame). Soon after arriving last night we noticed this very loud group of people who seemed Inebriated and were making condescending and generally rude and intrusive comments to all other patrons around them. We both ignored these people until they sat within around 5 meters of us and this one particular young Stab Threatening patron started direct his barrage toward us. We then ignored them further thinking that the fellow would just get bored and go away. After many more loud taunting and aggressive commenting from this fellow my Wife mentioned it to the Security guard and I said to the aggressor that "I didn't want to talk to him". -----The whole time I remained seated
If I could give it less than one star I absolutely would. This is unlike me at all as I am actually quite tolerant of different hotels and their standard of quality but this hotel was definitely beyond par. Came into a dingy old room with a front door that was falling apart at the bottom (I could forgive this characteristic if it was just our room door but it was every door on the floor that was chipped up at the bottom- not a good first impression). Room smelled like smoke- my sister and I thought we would air out the room as non smokers and hopefully the smell would go away because we didn't want to be a hassle. By the time we got back from dinner the smell was still there. I called up reception to address the issue - the hotel was completely booked out for the night and the receptionist offered no helpful alternatives and simply apologised and ended the call. I actually do remember the receptionists name but I will not say it to protect her. My sister and I spent a sleepless, nauseating night with not just a whiff but a stench of smoke filling our noses. Did I also mention that apparently the reception box for the TVs had blown and so for the entire time we were at the hotel we had no signal so we couldn't even watch tv? Like I said, I am under normal circumstances quite a reasonable guest but these conditions made it impossible to overlook. Sad I was actually looking forward...

Booked online, got to check in and no one could check us in, they needed a "Manager". Waited 25 minutes whilst 2 staff were happily serving everyone cash out for their pokies.
"Manager" arrives and says "checking in?", I responded "yes" as I approached the counter. She just stared at me so I thought she hadn't heard and repeated "yes, we are checking in".
The reply? Well, duh I know that - but I don't know your name so you'll have to tell me that. I was quite literally taken aback by such a condescending response - but my partner wasn't. He said there's no need to be rude after leaving us waiting over 20 minutes.
Then she comes out with "if you're going to abuse me, I'm not helping you". Even more in shock I asked how we were abusive - to which she said "rolling your eyes is abuse".
Weirdly enough - my next words were "please just refund our money - we're going somewhere else".
Maybe train "Managers" on Customer Service skills - or even other staff how to check in - it's not that hard, nor is a smile upon speaking to customers rather than rudeness!
Do not recommend at all - head further down the road to the Sands - where staff are lovely, friendly and don't ignore you for over 20 minutes!
Look forward to enjoying our delightful room and the restaurant etc next door...
