Don't bother.
I went to Si Senor with 3 friends on sunday night hoping for a nice dinner as I love street style mexican.
First of all, there is absolutely no ambiance. There is no music outside and the only thing that you can hear is the sound of the air-conditioners.
When placing our order we were told that they had run out of chips to accompany the burritos but offered to give us a taco instead.
There were as many staff as there were diners, but this didn't stop them from taking 45 to bring us our small, flavor-less portions of food. Not only this but they forgot some of our order.
During our 45 minute wait they kept bringing food out to our table mistakenly, then rushing it away to the correct table - an absolute tease. We also finished the bottle of water that we had been given and did not receive a refill, despite them taking the bottle away.
When the food arrived it was very disappointing. Incredibly small portions that lacked flavor and tasted like mush with mystery meat - you'd be much better off going to Salsa's or MadMex. (I understand that the taco's are designed for sharing, but the burrito's at $13 are designed to feed one person but simply don't)
When the time came to pay the bill we were informed that the taco's were not a replacement for the chips that they had run out of (despite them offering them to us that way). I made the point that they 'weren't offering the taco's as an alternative like they had told us, they were instead suggesting something completely different to what we were ordering and throwing it on top while making it seem like it was included'.
All in all a very bad experience. I will make sure that all of my family and friends do not waste their time and money here. I would hate to come here for dinner on a...
Read moreI read all the reviews before going in today. I wanted to check this place out as it has been recommended by one of my South American colleague.
We ordered the fish tacos (Baja) , pork nachos and chicken wings. To my surprised, the portion was actually quite big and for 2 person, it's plenty! If we have ordered another item from the menu, we wouldn't be able to finish it! And there were all yummy!
So, I don't understand with some of he negative comments complaining about the portion being too small and price too pricey! I mean seriously, where have these people been eating or going out to? Buying this ingredients and cooking at home is not cheap plus the amount of work and cleaning you have to do. I find that some negative reviews are personal and they tend to vent it out to destroy a business! A small portion to someone can be a large portion to another!!!!
In my opinion, the price point is pretty standard in Melbourne for the portion you get and if anything, price point here is on the lower side. You get fresh ingredients, freshly cook for you and what more can I say?
The pork nachos and tacos were so loaded up with fillings (and I have to agree with one of the reviews) that it can get tricky to eat or to stretch your mouth ! Lol!
After going there today, I am convinced not to fully trust on reading reviews of what other people has to say. It's best to try it out for yourself and be your own judge. If you like it, great and if you don't, move on! It's not easy running a restaurant and they don't make much money considering the amount of work, time, labour cost, rent etc. For $5- $10 tacos , you get to sit there, being served and someone clean after you, so...
Read moreAttended dinner here for the first time since moving to the area. My partner is anaphylactic to dairy. On arrival, we spoke to the waitress and notified her of this allergy. We asked her about cheese on the grill and she said that they had a seperate plate for vegan options.
After speaking to two different waitresses during service and notifying them both of the allergy again. They both noted it on the dockets, and spoke to the kitchen staff directly.
Once the meal came out, my partner noticed after consuming half of the salad, that there were pieces of cheese throughout it.
Firstly, this is obviously a life threatening mistake. We went straight to the hospital and had to have adrenaline administered for consuming the dairy.
Secondly, when we questioned the wait staff and kitchen staff, the chef told us that they pre make the salads and then pick the cheese out if dairy free is ordered. Being anaphylactic to dairy, it only has to come in contact with other parts of the food for it to be lethal.
The fact that this business serves allergy free food in this manner, is totally unacceptable and below standard from a restaurant. When we told the kitchen staff that we had to go to the hospital now and we will contacting the manager in the morning, the staff asked us to “please don’t and think of us and the business”
Won’t be EVER going back and not recommending to anyone.
Back to my old local Mexican, Hot Lips Hacienda in Highett. Always great with allergies and the food...
