Spade9 Cafe & Bar — Restaurant in Melbourne

This cafe has a lot of potential but unfortunately food just isn’t up to cafe quality, it’s very basic home style cooking. The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and kind. The cafe design its self is perfect for anyone with a little babe with its little indoor play area with a gate (amazing). It’s unlike many cafes in the area with this design. I was just disappointed by the food quality. two of the menu items we went to order were not available & then our actual mains just unfortunately were not made to a high standard you’d expect from a cafe. The heating of my pork roll wasn’t heated all the way through, sausage roll pastry was tough to cut through & the side salad was very basic. I saw somewhere that perhaps the cafe was looking for a new cook so maybe that’s the reason. Definitely a great place for kids with coffee and cake. I did a trial there. At the end of the trial, the manager there said that it was a paid trial cause it was 3+ hours. I gave my details (email, mobile...) and thought I was hired.

I waited to see when my first proper shift was and never heard back. I never got paid and I Never got any feedback as to why I wasn't hired (have over 3 years experience).

I messaged and messaged while trying to be polite and understanding. This is extremely disappointing. Petrol isn't cheap. Since then, young girls have been hired, so I only assume they wanted to use someone innocent, and never contact them again. If I was paid, I will delete this review. Otherwise, I do not...

We had the Potato and Leek soup, decaf latte, Iced latte and Babyccino.

The bread that came with the soup is crisp and soft, not hard throughout. It's really nice.

The decaf latte has a kind of nutmeg taste to it. It's different but nice. Really smooth taste.

Our daughter liked the Babyccino. Lots of chocolate powder and a marshmallow.

I would avoid the Iced Latte. It's a diluted mess. What's left of the taste of Coffee is a burnt bitterness. I am really really sorry to say this, it's almost like drinking an ashtray.
