Really disappointed ā¹ļø in this new cheese concept store. Overall itās a really great idea executed very poorly. It was quite a let down for my recent birthday š lunch I had really been looking forward to. The cheese was good but servings very small for the prices, most decent offerings $12-15 a plate with some questionable condiments; very difficult to know what cheese we were getting as staff placed 90% of the numbers on the plates (you need to quickly decode from a thin paper menu) facing them not the actual customer sitting at the train so you have to very quickly spin them around and then try to find a code- just get a lable for goodness sake or display them properly ; staff never even offered 2nd drink; zero engagement from staff on the cheese; zero wine pairing recommendations; hard uncomfortable seats in an ice tunnel alleyway near docklands with no atmosphere inside (or outside); no offer to even sell us our āfavouriteā despite venue being dead and a fridge full of cheese that appeared for sale; and to top it off, the only toilet is in shopping center outside with no loo paper on the roll š¤¦āāļø. Expensive paid parking out the front also does not help.
Might be a welcome novelty in a big wine area like Yarra Valley but in a totally dead area of Melbourne I wonāt be returning if this is whatās on offer given it cost over $120 for 2 I could have lunched somewhere really nice where they actually remembered my birthday I advised of when booking. Oh and my photo is what is really looks like with most of the train empty, unlike the other pics online showing it really full, which makes me question their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn a Saturday evening me and my party were excited to try the new concept of a cheese and wine vertical tasting. However, we were quickly appalled and regretting our decisions in going there. Firstly, upon entry the entire ārestaurantā had an awful atmosphere, limited music and the entire room felt very tense. Two staff seemed completely unbothered by the mess and disorganisation around them like it was ānormalā, whilst the other looked panicked, overwhelmed and embarrassed trying to manage FOH entirely on his own. The place was not very busy, yet tables everywhere were not cleaned up, with food plates, and mess everywhere. Looking like they had been there for hours untouched. Immediately the place felt tense, careless and disorganised. This first impression left a nasty taste in our mouths as so did the warm, sweating cheese. I liked the concept, but saw a lot of flaws - cheese sitting in sticky (not cleaned) plastic containers in an unventilated warm room for hours. No thanks! Secondly, the place was foggy and Smokey as the ākitchenā had no proper establishments such as induction fans. The customer service was careless and pathetic as we were not acknowledged, or seated despite our reservation made in advance until 40 minutes later. All I can say is we will not be coming back, and I hope this review highlights the needed room for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was an absolute vibe! And I honestly couldn't fault my experience. I mean how can you when it's just like a sushi train but cheese!?
Whether it be a date date, a date with friends, a date with family or a date with yourself just to get your hand on that delicious Signature Triple Cheese Toastie, this place is a hidden gem.
With colour coded plates and delicious artisan cheese pairings that are all homemade secret family recipes, the added win is finding out the crackers are complimentary.
I tried the Summerland Camel Marinated Feta and the Venezuelan Cafe Con Leche and I felt like a true cheese connoisseur even if only for a second.
The Fondue Mug went well with literally everything (including the toastie - trust me, I'm a connoisseur now), just try not to lose your gherkin to the sea of molten gruyere.
And make sure to leave room for the Biscoff Baked Cheesecake because even a meal of cheese needs to be finished with dessert made of...
