Having travelled a lot recently, I became accustomed to the high level that Starbucks produces in their coffee, food, trinkets and service.

I was under the impression until recently that we had no more Starbucks in Melbourne, but on one of my many COID-19 walks, I found a small one across the road from Flinders St Station/Elizabeth Street and another along Swanston Street. This is a much larger store than the Elizabeth Street one and is about a five-minute walk from Federation Square along Swanston Street and is accessible by tram too.

Filled with the usual ground or bagged beans of coffee, a variety of keep cups and drink bottles, plus other trinkets and a swag of things to eat.

Staff were super nice upon entry, all masked and social distancing and per COVID-19 allowance; there is limited seating. They answered any questions I had about the bagged coffee and even offered to grind the beans for me.

The coffee itself comes in three strengths: this is how I use them, but everyone has differing tastes! Dark Roast - great as a pick me up espresso or start of the day-long black. Blonde Roast - great for lattes, cappuccinos or flat whites, not as strong, but great for an afternoon pick me up that won't keep you up all night! Medium Roast - all-rounder, even strength, easy to drink any time of day.

Drop-in and say hi to the lovely staff and accommodating Manager and grab a coffee and snack of your choosing.

In the past I have had many bad experiences with staff that were rude and not making my order correctly but I must say this morning at around 6:50 I went to get a cappuccino and muffin and I really noticed the shop was so much more inviting and looked really neat and clean whereas in the past it looked terrible , the customer service was really good ( I didn’t get her name ) but she was extremely pleasant and then as soon as I waited for my coffee the barista was also very friendly and chatted to me straight away and checked to see if I wanted chocolate on top of my cappuccino, that may sound like a small thing but I’m very fussy with my cappuccino and in the past they haven’t even bothered with putting it on or asking ( A CAPPUCCINO HAS CHOCOLATE POWER) he was also extremely quick which is great as I’m always on my way to work and in the past I’ve had to wait a long time just for one coffee, I’m not sure of his name but please what an asset to your company and shop . Please don’t change...

Today I went to Swanston St Starbucks to get a take away coffee, when I was ordering a coffee at the counter and one of the staff asked me my name for the coffee and I said to her my name “ Shino” and after about 15 minutes later, the other staff announced what I order and then called my name sounds like China, but during that time I didn’t think too much and also didn’t realised my name will be called China, I was thinking maybe the one of staff who was service me at the counter didn’t write my name probably on the cup, but after when I checked my coffee cup, the name is China, I feel indignant and hurts, this is totally discrimination and racism… … And customer service also really bad, one of staff try to removal the name from the coffee cup and didn’t even ask me who was servicing you at the counter and she is trying to give a voucher to resolved the problem… …. Sorry I don’t need voucher because I won’t come back again… … this is totally make me...

Living in Adelaide with no Starbucks, was excited to be able to hit one up when we first arrived in Melbourne. My experience was disappointing sadly. We were in line for 20 minutes to order. Why? There was only one server. At this point there was no one making drinks either, until the woman returned to make beverages around 2 minutes before we got served. This meant there was approx 20 orders before us. We were in the shop almost an hour to receive 2 shaken green tea lemonades. Which were weak and not made with love (or even like!). The tables and rubbish bins were laden with rubbish, dirty and in all my travels I've never seen a Starbucks so poorly presented. Not blaming the two staff (they were both without smiles and slow so they can't be enjoying their roles), but that's a lot going on for them to be able then to keep the store well maintained. The next day we went to the one further up Swanston near Melbourne Central which was efficient, clean and vibey.

to whom this may concern, i had asked for an iced matcha latte but the worker there recommended me the "pure matcha latte" instead so i decided to give it a shot. this drink is undoubtedly the worst drink i have ever ingested in my entire life. the texture of this drink is so powdery i could choke. the taste of this drink transcends beyond the definition of disgust, closely resembling the taste of grass - as if i had just stuck my head into the ground and started chewing on the weeds in my garden. not only was this drink excessively overpriced, costing a massive $7.50, but it tasted atrocious. this is the worst day of my life and i hope this review saves a life as i do not want anyone to experience such trauma as i have. periodt.
