Customer Feedback – Poor Service at Barkly Square Sushi Outlet
I’ve been a regular customer at this sushi outlet, happily purchasing four freshly made spicy cooked tuna rolls with seaweed salad—exactly as I’ve requested—on three separate occasions last week. Each time, the staff prepared my order without issue and within five minutes, and I appreciated their effort.
However, today’s experience (served by a staff member named Ada at the Barkly Square location) was completely different and deeply disappointing. When I asked for the same order, Ada first claimed she was the owner. When I questioned that, she changed her story, saying she was the manager and refused to make the rolls. I explained that the other staff had no problem making them before, and she simply said, “No, I won’t make it,” then sent the other staff member on break immediately and refused to serve me altogether.
I had ridden over 20 minutes just to get there. A fellow customer even spoke up, asking her to serve me, but Ada dismissively responded, “Don’t worry about her, I’m not serving her.” I calmly said that I still wanted to make a purchase. Only then did she begrudgingly agree to sell me two spicy tuna rolls and a seaweed salad.

I asked for ginger with them and when I noticed I was given just one serve of ginger, I asked , very politely, for 2 more as the order was for 3 people. The person serving me very reluctantly gave me one more serve, seeming very unhappy with my request. When I again explained the order was for 3 people and therefore we needed 3 serves of ginger, she refused and said 2 was the most we could have. Read moreSushi is good, but the customer service is horrendous for a Barkly Square establishment. Very rude staff, just slapped the sushi in a box and handed it to me. No mention of 'grab some soy if you want' etc. or any generic closing statements that customer service makes, no smiles nothing. I really don't want over the top service please but just the basics of customer service and basic warmth of human interaction which you even get at Kmart or coles was completely missing.
Give it a miss if you're having a bad day, cuz these guys are highly likely to have you leave feeling...
