Big Bowl Kitchen Barkly Square — Local services in Melbourne

I went to BBK (Big Bowl Kitchen) for the first time in Barkly Square, one month after it opened. I was first impressed by their range of hot food that was displayed, already made and ready to order and eat. I thought to myself, as to how long the already cooked and prepare food on displayed had been sitting out for, so as a food safety pre-caution I ordered an item from their menu which I knew they would have to make fresh. The CUSTOMER SERVICE was pretty TERRIBLE, the young girl who served me, did not understand what I wanted when I was very clear as to what meal on the menu I wanted and I even pointed to the item to show her what I was referring to. The time I waited for the food to cook and be served was pretty average for a fast food chain, but when it was cooked and served to me, I was NOT IMPRESSED. I ordered a small roast pork with special fried rice ($20) and although the pork was cooked well, there was no flavour, seasoning or sauces/marinaes used on the food to inhance the flavour of the pork or the rice. The food was served in a bowl with some over cooked Bok Choy, but the meal itself was UNPLEASANT TO EAT, so I asked for the food to be placed in a take away container, where I ate it at home and added my own seasoning and sauces. Looking at the menu in general, I think the asking price for their food options are too high and I WOULDN'T say it is food that was value for money. They advertise their food as being "Authentic Chinese Cuisine", but I would say that it is just a glamourous term used to dress up basic simple chinese take away food, charged at high prices. I WOULDN'T EAT HERE AGAIN, or at any of the other BBK food chains, it is JUST ANOTHER CHEAP FRANCHISE, with OVER PRICED BLAND FOOD, looking to make a lot of money. CONSUMERS be aware of take away food venus, located in shopping centres, the food may look good, but it is probably not worth the money you pay for the quantity and quality...

The best thing about this restaurant for me is that the service is really excellent 😍 From the moment we walked in the door, the enthusiastic waitresses greeted us with a smile ☺️ I really felt at home and warm, and they always took good care of us to make our dining experience even more enjoyable 😊, the food is also rich and varied in flavors from authentic traditional dishes to creative and innovative ones 🥰 Not only that, the restaurant is really great value for money, the amount of food is very generous 😊, and the food is also very delicious. The food is also rich in flavors, both traditional and creative 🥰 Not only that, it's really good value for money 😌 The quantity is huge 😋 I can't even finish a small portion for a 120lbs person 😂 The environment is very nice and clean, even the sofa cracks don't have a single bit of food residue 😋 It's a very cozy place to eat! 😌 I'll be back next time...

Been here twice. Food is ok. But the second time I went had absolutely horrible experience. I was eating in at 5-6pm on a weekday, and I was sitting at a 4ppl table as most of the restaurant was empty. Nearing the end of my meal one of the staff started cleaning the tables which was fine. But then she also sprayed the cleaning stuff on the table which was in contact with mine and put the chair on it. She was spraying next to my food and I took one more bite before thinking better of it. My pharynx was irritated by the chemicals. The other half of the restaurant wasn’t cleaned yet anyway. Were they in such a rush to finish their job to clean a half of the table the customers are still using?? There were also two ppl using one side of a 4ppl table next to mine but she didn’t disturb them. Won’t...
