EDIT: Had the pleasure of meeting Dan in person, who explained to me the issue we encountered was due to the uber app system and glitch. Sycamore had actually fulfilled our order and were intending to exchange the tart with another item, however the uber app cancelled our order for whatever reason. The issue with scheduling orders stems from uber, as it does not inform Sycamore of scheduled orders until an hour or so beforehand, even if you made the order much earlier.
Nevertheless, it was great to see how accountable Dan was despite not actually being at fault for the experience. If it wasn't for this, I would have missed the opportunity to come in person and witness the vibrant environment Sycamore has and would recommend anyone within the area to visit!
I made a scheduled Uber order today around 11am for a 1:00-1:30pm delivery. However one of the items was sold out when it came time to prepare. I was prompted on the Uber app itself to update my order and was given 10 minutes to do so which I did. The app seemed to have bugged out as my order was cancelled just before lunch time.
I fail to see how an item could have been sold out when my order was placed in the morning prior to it selling out. I expect items to be reserved and prioritised for scheduled orders in the future. Sycamore is also at fault for not calling me directly and asking me to change the sold out item as this was only a single Portuguese Tart... Bare in mind the order contained some chicken baguettes which I still would have liked and does not justify cancelling the entire order for a $5 item.
It's a shame the disorganisation from this experience has left a bitter taste as the food here is quite good! Please take this into consideration because I'd like to confidently order from Sycamore again...
Read moreMy sister and I dined here for brunch, we sat outside and the tables outside were all dirty (we couldn't sit inside as I brought my dog along). We ordered quickly and waited longer than we expected but our food eventually arrived. Once it did we noticed the bowl of chips we ordered to come with Aioli had tomato sauce instead, we told the waiter as such and he said he would grab it right now. We ate and finished out food and the Aoli never arrived, it was only when we were about to leave that I walked inside to ask if the Aioli was coming and since it was a different waiter they didn't know what I was talking about but said they will bring it right out which they did. Now to the food, other than the eggs, the food was rather unpleasant. The spinach on the plate was unedible in my opinion, it was barely cooked and I don't know what they coated the spinach with but it was very strange and gross. The Chirozo was overcooked and very dry, the tomato was undercooked and also had an odd taste, the hashbrown was very dense and bland, the $10 bowl of chips which was barely full and weren't seasoned had these overcooked brown/black pieces of who knows what sitting at the bottom and we were disgusted. Overall it was awful considering the price we spent for it, I also ordered a milkshake and the cup it came in was dirty itself (or at least looked dirty). The atmosphere outside was awful due to sitting right next to the main road and there were plenty of cars and trucks roaring past but that would be fixed if we had sat indoors. I don't recommend you order here, we thought it was going to be great because this cafe has such high stars and reviews and maybe the cafe had an off day, I'm not sure but I would never eat here again and I was extremely...
Read moreOk to visit but DO NOT ORDER ONLINE! So tovisit in person it’s nots not bad despite the menus’ obsession with avocado and the make your own chai approach. The most frustrating thing about dining in, apart from the under resources staff who are lovely but simply over whelmed at times, is when you want to pay the staff direct you to the front counter where, when it’s busy, you have to que up with the walk ins who want take away coffee which in terms of workflow seemed very counter intuitive and delays all parties concerned and creates a chaotic unwelcoming environment. Being granted approval by the manager to pay was almost as farcial as the baseball cap he wore. Staff need to be able to allow patrons to pay at the stable. However it’s bearable, though expensive, as the wait staff are lovely even if obviously under resourced. With UberEats even though it’s a 4 minute drive, the coffees are cold and the cups only 1/3 full desire paying for a large, it was simple a shot in a cup for two of them and the third half full. This was a small by any coffee shop standards. The burger had warm chicken and dead cold bacon which again makes me wonder well beyond how the coordination between front and back of house and operates but even how the communications in kitchen work. This ticket was poorly managed. Essentially this place has all the right ingredients but whoever is managing the actual flow of work needs to reasses how they execute both in house and out of house service delivery because this wasn’t a $80 value delivery. They charge enough; patrons deserve a better experience and the wait staff clearly deserve...
