The Ascot Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

Dissapointing meal considering the review was 4.3 just thought I give them a try. Not really children friendly , staff didn't give kids cutlery which is fine but not even serviettes. Meal took 33mins. Kids meal a basic toasties was harder than rock, even as an adult I was having trouble biting the over toast bread with next to no cheese . Ordered the breakie salad was below average and tasteless no crunch n a small plate with 2 finger size haloumi that actually had taste. My partner ordered a cheese burger again just an average taste burger with mushy potato on side. Latte taste like...

not impressed with poor service surcharge ...

As a Union Road local have been coming to Grandpa Joe over the past 5 years but my most recent experience has resulted in me not coming back ever again. Food did not arrive for the 40 mins we waited and it was clear the meals had not been started as others before us had still not been served. We had to leave due to other commitments so went to pay for the two coffees but was grossly over charged, perhaps for an undisclosed surcharge for not eating. Could have forgiven the delay in meals eventually but not the overcharge they did...

We finally tried this place with the new owners but disappointed our coffee was not even luke warm 😢 Took a sip straight away and realized what a shame because the food was great but cold coffee and weak flavor isn't good. You wanna have epic coffee so people come everyday to wake up and enjoy the day. Had to go across the street to get a new ☕️ which we didn't wanna do. Might go back to see if maybe it was just that one 👧 employee 🤔? Everyone has meh days so maybe it was just that. I will update this post shortly...
