Best Coeliac friendly restaurant we have tried, both in food quality/taste and service. We had to travel out of our way to try this restaurant and it was worth it, as it became an instant favourite.
My Coeliac partner and I came for dinner and seated ourselves at the smaller tables which wasn't preferable, but the restaurant was otherwise full. We found the atmosphere to be very relaxed and positive.
We ordered - Chips and gravy Salt and pepper calamari 1 Gluten free Burger 1 Standard Burger Donuts Soft drinks
It was explained to us that they were busier than usual for a Monday with the amount of staff working. We also received an apology for the wait which wasn't that long anyway. Food still turned out perfect. The were also very friendly and communicative from start to finish. I also got the impression that there is a strong and loyal customer base, as there was a lot of chatting between staff and customers using first names at times. This was a huge indication of consistency.
Most places surcharge for gluten free substitutes but this place is completely gluten free as their standard, with exception to the standard buns for gluten containing burgers. There is no difference in taste or texture that is usually very evident when having GF, V or DF food.
The burgers were the most delicious we have ever bought however, there wasn't a large variety of options. I had a standard gluten burger but I doubt you could tell the difference between the buns anyway.
We found the Salt and Pepper calamari to be perfectly cooked which is a huge plus considering so many places easily get it wrong. I don't particularly like calamari but we like to order a variety from a new menu to try things out. My partner loved it and even I couldn't stop eating it.
The chips are homemade by the staff and not bought which is an indication of the passion and effort put into the business. Very nice but nothing special.
Unfortunately, we did not receive the complete order as one item was missed. After we left, we realized that we didn't get our donuts. We forgot about them at the time so not sure if they had remembered and we had just left too early. Since they were so busy, we didn't get to talk to them and thank them so there was no opportunity for this to come up.
My only other feedback is that it would be nice if they franchised and had a bit more space and since they plan on adding some Asian fusion, it would be cool if they added pizza as well.
Will definitely...

Once upon a time, in the faraway land of "Finding a Decent Meal with Food Allergies," there lived a weary traveler named Annabelle. Her quest? To find a meal that wouldn't prompt an epic saga of digestive distress. Enter Sweet Salt, not just a restaurant, but a knight in shining apron, ready to rescue our heroine and her family from the perilous clutches of clunky menu apps and flavourless fare.
Behold, Sweet Salt's ordering app! A magical tome so user-friendly, it practically sings you a ballad as you tap. It was love at first swipe—clear, concise, and catering to the most intricate of dietary dilemmas. Finally, an app that understands "gluten-free" isn't code for "let's just give them lettuce."
As our band of famished adventurers settled in, they were met not with the typical tavern keepers, but with wizards of customer service, conjuring smiles and satisfaction with every gesture. The food arrived with the speed of a hungry teenager at a buffet, each dish a masterpiece that whispered sweet nothings to our taste buds. It was as if the culinary gods had descended to ensure our plates were a canvas of deliciousness.
But lo! What's this? The owner, a grand sorcerer of sauces, appeared at our table with a treasure trove of homemade concoctions, each more enchanting than the last. "Try these," he proclaimed, "on the house!" A gesture so generous, it could only be rivaled by a leprechaun handing out pots of gold.
After a grueling journey from the distant realm of QLD, where the highlight was playing "I spy" with the same car interior, Sweet Salt stood as a beacon of hope. This isn't just a place to eat; it's where food allergies meet their delicious demise, and where every visit feels like coming home—if home was staffed by the most hospitable folks in the land and filled with the aromas of dishes so divine, they'd make a grown knight weep.

Read moreToday I ordered a serve of the GF Onion Rings and the STD Ong’s Veggie Burger with the Homemade GF Potato Cake inside the burger with an extra slice of the American Hi-melt Cheese, and extra beetroot. The head chef Ong even kindly gave me a complimentary GF Doughnut to sample! Everything about this place exceeded my expectations, from the friendliest customer service in which co-owner David patiently took the time to answer my many questions about the menu; to hygiene where my table and even the salt and pepper shakers were spotlessly cleaned with sanitizer wipes then dried with a towel; and to the food which was super delicious! Sweet Salt have their Gluten Free batter for their in-house Onion Rings, Potato Cakes and Doughnuts down to a tee, which when fried deliver a satisfying crunchy exterior texture with every bite, without any excess oiliness. The amount of potato in the potato cake was a thick, generous slice, it’s delicious softness contrasting the crispy shell nicely. The doughnut was sprinkled with fine sugar and monk fruit powder, and was crispy on the outside with a soft, fluffy, airy deliciousness on the inside. With generous portion sizes and great value for money, the burger was a veritable tower, oozing with juicy, delicious flavours from their generous lashings of homemade burger sauce and bbq sauce which work very well together taste-wise. The veggie patty was the best I’ve ever tasted, full of fresh ingredients you could see and taste like corn, chickpeas, pumpkin, sweet potato, etc, topped with generous slices of melted tasty cheese and of course the additional slice of American Hi-melt cheese I requested which didn’t disappoint. Fresh salad ingredients in the burger were also generous. So much thoughtfulness, care, passion, culinary expertise and love have been put into everything David and Ong do here at Sweet Salt. I am really looking forward to dining here again soon, and especially to try some more of their variety of exotic homemade sauces they put into their burgers. Their double-battered deep fried Mars bar and pineapple fritters with ice cream are also on my radar. Thank you David and Ong for a lovely dining experience at your...
