Tough call, line ball.
Drinks and prices were acceptable, but nothing out of the ordinary. You wouldn't drive across town just for that.
Can't comment on the kitchen. The food looked GOOD. But we weren't there for it.
The venue . . . the venue . . . look, it's hard to explain, but there's just a tiredness to the place that gave me a sense it's on its way down. Or maybe it's been down and now it's on its way back up? As beer gardens go, it's OK, but on the day it just seemed quiet and a bit sad. Maybe we just caught it at an awkward moment.
The staff were friendly, no complaints there. I did get a mild vibe that I was crashing a private party what with all the regulars bunkered down at the bar. (This is not an all bad thing -- regulars make a pub -- and it may well have been a private party for all I know.)
I see lots of positive ratings and am guessing that it's a good little locals bar. Will try to drop back in at a different time of week / day, and see how it strikes me. Was hoping the Pinnacle would come through with five stars of blazing glory, and maybe that's what I'll find next...
Read moreWow. I don’t often leave bad reviews (in fact - this might be the second in 7-8 years) but kind of gob smacked by the service here. Came for steak night which was supposed to be $20 - was charged $40+ for a steak & a glass of Shiraz. Was advised to go to the footy room for a table “on the left” but had any further directions interrupted by the bartender welcoming their friend. Was later admonished for sitting in the wrong area - so I moved and tried to take the table that took up the least room. Was promptly moved from that to another table, then served my meal without a fork. When I asked for one I was told to go to get cutlery (because how would it be self evident that you need a fork with your steak knife, right?).
Really wanted to like this place because it’s really close to where I live - and maybe I got them on a bad night - but I’m not wasting money here again (also - the meal was...
Read moreI think it is a real shame, this pub used to be really nice, there used to be great DJ's with fun 80's tracks on a Friday night with smiles to go with, great friendly bar staff, and good food. Unfortunately the pub now seems to have none of these.
An angry, anti-social, chain-smoking/drinking DJ who mocks with Friday-night beer garden in attendance with random ambiguous music choices clearly only for his own entertainment (basically crap), rude and incompetent bar staff who can't do their jobs properly and are extremely unpleasant to deal with and look at (bring back the old bar staff or get some that actually care about their jobs and take care of the place and the customers), and a menu that seems to keep changing in both quality and consistency - possibly reflecting turnover in kitchen staff, again not a good sign.
Like Michael Jackson said, I'm gonna make a change, ah, for...
