The Grand Monarque — Restaurant in Melbourne

Such a disappointment. Booked here for a Father’s Day brunch and was granted by a girl at the door outside who was giving passers by a chocolate mini muffin with tongs to entice people in to the restaurant (weird). The staff were still blowing up balloons for Father’s Day while we were seated. There was 8 of us and they seated us at a table for 6. The meals came out 2 at a time with 10 minutes in between and the last meal was actually forgotten (and this was the first order to be taken!) Whilst we were eating a girl came and sprayed cleaner on the table behind us and we all chocked on the spray (one of our guests had to walk out). One wait staff asked my son 4 times what he wanted in his wrap, and then came back again to ask again. No knives and forks were given to us, even after the first meals were placed down. We had to ask for napkins, not given with cutlery. The coffee was the worst coffee we had all drunk. Just terrible. They asked us if we wanted mocktails and we considered it until they told us they were made with fake cocktail mix. I truly don’t think these people had ever run a restaurant before. Don’t...

From the moment I walked in, I was impressed. The staff were welcoming and genuinely friendly, which set the tone for the whole experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a touch of elegance that makes you want to sit back and enjoy the evening.

The Samurai Tempura Prawns were outstanding. Light, crisp, and perfectly cooked, they had just the right balance of texture and flavor. You can taste the freshness in every bite.

The Ocean King Fish Feast was on another level. The fish was cooked beautifully, tender and full of flavor, and the way it was presented made it feel like a true signature dish. It’s generous enough to share, yet every bite feels special.

Had a fantastic family dinner at The Grand Monarque, and it was an absolute delight. We were looking for an authentic Sri Lankan experience, and this restaurant delivered in every way.

The cuisine truly is the star of the show. The dishes were rich in flavor, beautifully spiced, and tasted genuinely authentic—you could tell they were prepared with care. And the smell of coconut oil , mmmm, just wonderful!! It's the kind of food that brings a table to life, and everyone in our family found something to rave about.

Beyond the incredible food, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it the perfect setting for a family gathering. The service was also excellent, adding to a truly memorable evening.
