I've been coming to Great Indian Wave for over five years now, and even though I've moved house several times during that time, I still happily make the drive to Boronia—because no place does Indian food quite like this one.

The Butter Chicken is my absolute favourite—rich, flavourful, and consistently perfect every single time. It’s the kind of comfort food that warms your heart just as much as your stomach. Every dish I’ve tried over the years has been made with such care, and you can truly taste the love that goes into it.

What makes this place even more special is the owner. He remembers me and my order every time I call, no matter how long it’s been. That personal touch, the way he’s always so kind and accommodating with any special requests, makes me feel like more than just a customer—it’s like visiting family.

Great Indian Wave isn’t just a restaurant to me. It’s a part of my routine, a place I look forward to, and a spot I’ll always return to no matter where I live. I can’t recommend it...

I can't remember if I've already reviewed this place, but I went back with my Mum on the weekend so it's worth another review anyway. I've tried a wide range of the dishes on their menu, and I've not found anything that was less than 4.5/5. The staff are friendly and professional, the chef asked how spicy we would like the korma, and then got it exactly right. The complex flavours, tender melt-in-your-mouth meat, perfectly cooked rice and naan all added up to a truly memorable dining experience. We finished it off with the gulab jamun and kulfi for dessert, which were both really tasty.

The atmosphere could use some work: the TV in the corner playing a Youtube playlist of Indian pop songs was interrupted a few times (as Youtube will do) with ads that disturbed the vibe. Aside from that, I really don't know why they are so quiet. An under-appreciated gem serving classic favourites as well as less well-known traditional dishes. Prices are very affordable and portions...

Wish we’d taken photos but we pretty much ate it as soon as we got home. Once again wonderful food and wonderful service. Very generous serving sizes. The food is rich and delicious, everything tasted fresh and it wasn’t greasy at all. It’s the best Indian food I’ve had. We ordered all vegetarian dishes. My favourite is the Aloo Palak (potatoes cooked in rich, creamy spinach sauce). I forget the names of the other 2 dishes we got, but they were both wonderful. Lots of fresh veggies, perfectly cooked and in amazing sauces. We also got saffron rice, papadums, pakoras, onion bhaji, and garlic naan. Everything was delicious and I wish I had a bigger stomach because I want more. We love it so much we got enough to have for dinner tomorrow. And once again the same person was serving us and they were so friendly. Can’t...

Great Indian restaurant. I’m glad I could have a real traditional Indian dinner. We had vegetarian curry and chicken curry, very nice flavors. I guess the business is run by the owners. Friendly and polite people, they offer us a soft, mild or spicy. I recommend it to consume in place or take away. I will come back next time I’m in the area. The little suggestion I make is to improve a little the toilet ( the soup supply, maybe some decoration ) . Here are a few pictures to inspire you to come and to try this traditional Indian gastronomy.

Delicious food although some dishes were questionable (maybe it just wasn't for me?) and customer service was really good too but they were definitely super understaffed leading them to not be very attentive to their guests eating in at their restaurant as they were very busy running around doing Ubereats orders (or whatever delivering partner they use). Toilets were not in the best condition also when we went to use them. They had no hand soap or any way to dry your hands after you've washed them.

The service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and efficient. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a perfect place to enjoy a great meal. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Indian cuisine!
