The Great Greek Gyros Souvlaki — Restaurant in Melbourne

I’ve made an appearance a few times and I have to say that this place can be a hit & miss - on some occasions (and I believe it depends on the time of day) the meat can be full of flavour especially when it’s still at the start of it - however when you go later in the afternoon or towards the night and the meat is more than halfway gone, near the end, the strong flavours that were coming out at the start have already vanished and it can be flavourless, respectfully. I think going there earlier in the day would be more worth it as it can be really amazing when it’s full of crisp and flavour.

As for the chips - unfortunately I have had better - as the seasoning is just salt so there’s nothing special, and the last time I ordered chips, they were unfortunately over cooked and old tasting as a result - it would be better if there was a signature seasoning for this restaurant (like the chips at Jolly Kebabs in Essendon where they have their own Jolly seasoning which is...

Went for lunch today.

Waited more than 20 minutes for 1 open plate and a Souvlaki! When told 10 mins…I was on a tight schedule and had previously tried calling the store to place the order but phone went to message bank! Only 2 other customers in store at the time I arrived. Very very slow service. After the 10 mins, I asked a few times if they’d forgotten and they said ‘its coming’ Eventually when nothing came and I was the only customer left, they acknowledged the issue but blamed another customer because “he’d confused them”.

Finally, it arrives with no apology and guess what... all the wrong ingredients in the souvlaki. My daughter is allergic to tomatoes and does eat tzaztiki! The Open plate was very average, watery dips and dry unpleasant meat with no flavour! Chips were too thick, with no seasoning. A memorable experience for all the wrong reasons. Needles to say i Won’t be back! Don’t see this place lasting...

Should have read the reviews before going last night. Me and my partner were looking forward to trying the new place after our favourite regular Souvlaki Express closed. Yet I must say we were left very dissapointed. Waited 35 minutes for 1 souvlaki and 2 open plates. Was getting frustrated coz we were told 15 mins…Shop was not busy and phone didn’t ring once while we sat so there was no phone orders to cause delays..only 2 staff working and they can’t even speak English properly! old lady is doing most of the work and looks to be struggling. Super super slow. When we finally received the Food it was very average..definitely not worth the money! Sorry but won’t...
