When I ordered my usual coffee, the staff member at the counter — who knows I’m a regular and that I always request a white lid because it’s more comfortable to drink from — gave me the black lid instead. When I politely asked for the white lid, she responded, “Can’t change it because it’s costing the café money.”
I reminded her that I’m a regular and always request the white lid, and she admitted she knew, but insisted I should “ask before” because it “costs money.” This exchange raises several concerns:
If you know your customer’s usual preference, why not provide it without them needing to repeat it every visit?
If a product you serve (in this case, the black lid) negatively affects the customer experience, it should be replaced without hesitation — certainly not argued over.
Dismissing a customer’s concern (I explained the black lids can burn the lips and she flatly said “it doesn’t”) is both rude and unprofessional.
What was most disappointing was her comment implying I “can’t keep asking for something that’s costing money.” As a paying customer, I expect my business to be valued, not reduced to the cost of a 10-cent lid. Especially considering your coffee is already priced higher than many other cafés serving better quality.
If this is how loyal customers are treated, you risk losing more than the cost of a lid — you risk your reputation and long-term patronage. I strongly suggest you train your staff to be polite, to listen without dismissing concerns, and to focus on customer satisfaction rather than small cost-cutting measures that alienate...
Read moreI was craving something savoury so a friend suggested me this place for its NZ pies and donuts. Went in and met and was greeted by the owner very nice man. First I ordered a sausage roll but they weren't ready yet so I said I'll wait. So I tried for the first time a NZ steak and cheese meat pie.
Now the thing is people always say NZ pies are the best so I had to see what the fuss was about. So I took a bite and the pie was warm not hot which is good thing for me but also a bad thing because aussie pies have to burn your mouth haha. But it was an OK pie wasn't better than the aussie pies I've had over the years.
Next was the sausage roll which came out piping hot out the oven. I had a bite and the sausage roll was nice it just had meat and seasoning. Aussie sausage rolls just hit different for me because they add more fillings like carrots, onion and this just had meat and seasoning. So it was tasty but not better than an aussie sausage roll.
So that settles it for me. Aussies still in my opinion have better pies and sausage rolls. But NZ you passed for me good job 👍🏾 7/10
I recommend you give this place a try I will be back to give something else a try because he had alot of variety.
P.S I got a 6 pack of donuts but I don't eat sweets so I'll let my wife try it and get back...

Top Notch customer service from the lovely lady who served us. Totally forgot to get her name sorry. But I’m assuming it’s the one mentioned in most reviews as every single person who went before me experienced her friendly and lovely customer service! What a huge asset she is to Mr Gs Donuts!!! Its so hard to come by customer service like this nowadays but this lady delivered and exceeded and I hope she knows that her bubbly and energetic personality will definitely be a huge highlight to any person that walks through those doors!! She is like a light in the dark and brings so much joy to the place. Yes the pastries, donuts and cakes are delicious and yummy and cannot forget the coffees too!!
But most times, service plays a huge part in why you have a returning customer. And crossing paths with Tina whilst just receiving the worst news that morning, she lifted my spirits and reminded me why it’s so important to be kind and a smile definitely goes a long way! Bless your beautiful heart Tina!! You deserve bonuses for sure because your lovely smiling face is what brings my family and I back. And I tell everyone to come visit MrGs because it’s where the food and the service is...
