The Jolly Miller (Bundoora) — Restaurant in Melbourne

I had the worst cafe experience here. I came for brunch with a group of friends and ordered the truffle mushroom focaccia and a matcha latte. Based on the menu, I thought it would make a great post for my Instagram story, but that expectation was completely let down.

While everyone else at the table received their food, I waited over 30 minutes with nothing. I went to check on my order and found out they had forgotten it. They said they’d start preparing it, but 10 minutes later the waiter came back to tell me it was sold out.

As compensation, they gave me a small mocha, which didn’t make up for the poor service. Another 10 minutes passed before I finally got something, but it still wasn’t what I ordered. The matcha latte I originally got was also watered down and disappointing.

The only good thing I can say is that the chicken avocado focaccia (what I ended up receiving) tasted decent—but by that point, the experience was already ruined.

This was meant to be a chill moment before my uni assessment, but I ended up feeling embarrassed, frustrated, and 10 minutes late. No refund or proper apology was offered. Everyone else had a great time, which just made mine feel even worse. I won’t be...

The best coffee and the most lovely staffers who are always happy to see you and make you feel welcome. The bundoora store has a lovely man working at the moment who is partial deaf and even though I was rude and was in the wrong he still apologised and gave me a free cookie which was a gesture that brought me back to reality for being so rude. Thus store really is wonderful and yes they get busy but a little bit of patience and kindness does go a long way. I am sorry to the staff who heard me on the phone say rudely that they were incompetent when it was me who was wrong as my order was waiting for me. I feel like a piece of poo and I did apologise and insist they are great and it was me who was grumpy and impatient. I embarrassed myself which i deserved I just want to say since we moved here 7 months ago from the cbd with many coffee choices, I am happy with Jolly Millers being open early and making such yummy coffee, food and cakes. My grandson loves the cookie monster cup cakes and I personally love the little cheese cakes. Service is wonderful at all times. Love it! I have been coming here for many, MANY years and seen the evolution over time. The one thing that has remained consistent above all else is the customer service. I was in the cafe when the QR codes were being put on the table and was worried that it would turn into a no staff interaction like most places but that didn’t happen. The staff just got more involved which I loved!

The Barista is always like lightning with the greeting which is great. Sometimes the floor staff are busy, but the barista always acknowledges us and we have never been left waiting and that in itself is reassuring from the start. I’ve only ever had a few minor mistakes in the years though the staff have always been very friendly and quick to fix.

Today I came back for the first time in around 6 months, and the guy on the coffee machine instantly greeted us the second we stepped around the corner and I was wrapped to see nothing changed. Thank you and keep up the fantastic work and I think I’ll be back a lot sooner than 6 months...
