Step into The LuWow, and you'll quickly realize it's no ordinary bar – it's a treasure trove of tropical vibes, tiki delights, and the kind of laughter that leaves your sides aching. And at the heart of this paradise? Finlay, the unmatched mixologist and humorist who's officially claimed the title as Melborunes's most entertaining bartender and waiter.
Imagine this: You're greeted by a jungle of exotic decorations, and there's Finlay, wearing a shirt louder than a cockatoo at dawn, shaking up storms in tiki mugs. His cocktail creations? They're like a vacation in a cup – with umbrellas and all. But it's not just the drinks that are exotic; Finlay's jokes and one-liners are as colorful as the decor. He serves up a side of wit with every order, making The LuWow not just a bar but an escape to a hilariously tropical utopia.
But Finlay's talents don't stop at the bar. As a waiter, he's turning the dining experience into an adventure. He introduces each dish with a backstory so engaging, you'd swear he was recounting tales from a lost Tiki civilization. His recommendation? "Try the Bo-na-na,' it's like a party in your mouth where everyone's invited, and the dress code strictly says 'Flavors Only.'"
The LuWow, under Finlay's watch, becomes more than just a night out; it's a joyous journey. His ability to blend humor, warmth, and exceptional service ensures every guest leaves with a smile wider than the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The atmosphere he creates is infectious, turning strangers into friends and evenings into memories.
In a world where bars and restaurants often blur into one, The LuWow stands out like a beacon of fun, flair, and fabulousness, all thanks to Finlay. So, if you're ever wandering the streets of Melborune looking for a light-hearted escape filled with delectable drinks and chuckles, make your way to The LuWow. Finlay, the jovial genie of the tiki lamp, will be there to grant your wishes for an unforgettable night. Here's to Finlay – not just a bartender and waiter, but a true master of ceremonies at The LuWow, where every night is a riot of laughs...
Read moreShocking. Had been walking for a while with my 75 year old parents to show them this bar and got there at 12.31am on a Saturday night, went in with music blaring and plenty of people with full glasses only to be rudely told that last drinks had been called at 12.30. Really?? One minute??? We promised to drink fast, explained that my parents were tired and needed a rest but nothing doing. What kind of service is this? What kind of care? Nothing but heartless people with zero passion for service. Guy who was behind the bar has no kindness or understanding in his heart, a terrible person. Will not be going back and will actively warn anyone against going. Just shocking.
Look no further than the reply to this to gauge what the people are really like. It was 12.31 on the dot, they called last drinks at 12.30, and I specifically stated that my parents were tired and needed a rest. So telling lies appears par for the course for these people. And I said the music was blaring to say that it was open not to suggest that it was bad. And my parents were not dragged against their will. The person who wrote this reply is a liar and clearly a nasty person with a real vendictive streak, look at the replies to the other negative reviews. Such an insecure and nasty little person. So sad. My review was of the service which was shocking and heartless and they reply with a shocking and heartless reply. Now that's vindication. Terrible people in this place, avoid it...
Read moreWe planned ahead and book the table. They just cancelled my table reservation without any consultation.
In response to the owner’s response:
The owner blamed that my email service provider keeps bouncing (rejecting) her email. I did receive her email informing that she unilaterally cancelled my reservation. I booked the table 2 months ahead. The owner decided to change the rules of the game suddenly because they are expecting more people coming to the bar on that Friday night. This means that we cannot assume that the table reservation is 100% confirmed. They should honour the reservation regardless whether there are more or less people on the night.
I cancelled all my bookings well before 24 hours notice. I can provide evidence to support them. We had to cancel in one occasion simply because you did not like the table to have more than 6 to 8 people. We had to go somewhere else for drinks! There is also 2 hours time restriction on each reservation. We had to make 2 separate bookings for a 4 hour cocktail session. The time restriction is simply impractical for cocktail bars as they take a long time to make them.
I have been trying so hard to book this place. There are too many constraints and this time they unilaterally cancelled my...
