As Mordialloc locals, we've been die-hard fans of this place for many years. Recently though, the place has taken an absolute nose-dive.
Yesterday was a long-weekend Saturday, and on any other day in the past the place would have been packed. Instead it felt deserted, with what looked like around 30% table occupancy. Even the people working the food vans were standing around idle and looking bored because nobody was ordering anything on account of nobody drinking enough to get hungry. The reason for all this is very simple: they've raised the prices of their drinks way too high e.g. $24 for a double vodka and $60 for a bottle of house-brand chardonnay. What they don't seem to understand is that the place has literally nothing else to offer, it's basically a concrete slab with very uncomfortable seating situated in an industrial jungle. Even the big screen tv has now been replaced with a small LCD. Hike up the prices of the drinks to the point where they're no longer affordable and people will go elsewhere, as they evidentally now are. It's as simple as that.
It's a shame, really, because the food vans are what make the place stand out from the competition. But if I was still running one, I'd be stratching Urban Ground off my rotation because I just don't see it being worth anyone's...
Read moreHello,
I want to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the management of this establishment.
Tonight, I visited with my family, and unfortunately our experience was far from satisfactory. When my wife went to order drinks, she found that the bar was almost entirely out of stock.
There were no soft drinks available for the kids, except for cocktail mixers. The selection of beers on tap was limited to just four options, and the rosé and red wines were not as advertised. Furthermore, it was disheartening to witness the staff being verbally abused by other patrons due to the management's apparent lack of effort in running the business effectively.
I urge the management to strive for improvement. This establishment used to be excellent, but it is now clearly declining. As a fellow business owner, I implore you not to put your staff in such challenging positions, as this can lead to losing valuable employees.
I must commend the exceptional service provided by the bar workers tonight, Jack and Sam. They went above and beyond to ensure our experience was as pleasant as possible. However, it saddens me to think that they had to endure such a challenging shift.
Please, management, take these concerns seriously and work towards restoring this establishment to its...
Read moreBooked a table for outdoors only to arrive and find out that our table is indoors. This wasn’t going to work as we had small children with us and purposely booked outside to be able to keep an eye on our kids. Kicked up a bit of a fuss and they begrudgingly moved us outside.
Unbeknownst to us this booking was only for 2 hours. Fair enough. With covid limitations I get it that to cater to more people you need to do this. But maybe give us more than 5 minutes notice before you very rudely tell us we need to be out the door especially after I just ordered another round. Again after kicking up a fuss I got this refunded but was again met by a fair bit of attitude from multiple staff. This place has the potential to be great and caters to all sorts of clientele but the staff has really let it down on more than one occasion. We’ve told multiple friends about how good this place is for an afternoon drink but I think unfortunately we’ll have to stay away for...
