Decided to come here for dinner with my girlfriend on a Sunday evening on 30.06.19 , the atmosphere seemed warm and vibrant. The weather outside was cold and windy and we decided to treat ourseleves to a hot meal at the sports bar. At the cashier i pointed to the lamb shoulder and hot pie with two lemon lime bitters. The cashier guy was friendly but did not repeat our order and provide a receipt which was fine as we did not think anything of it.
While we sat down a lady in her late 40s-50 with blonde hair came to serve us and was about to set down the hot pie and a plate of "nachos". I informed her that we ordered a lamb shoulder to which she rolled her eyes and let out a sigh. She went back to the kitchen and came back with the same plate of nachos. She told us rudely that this was "what was on the system" and that we should "keep the receipt next time to show". This was infront of other customers and guests at the dining area to see and hear. Even against our objections she still proceeded to assert that we ordered nachos which was beyond humiliating. My girlfriend did not want to cause a scene and not waste food so she accepted the nachos against my objections.
The lady did not make any apology to us, forget about "the customer is always right". I don't understand why anyone would order nachos for dinner even on a cold evening. I have never been so embarassed at a dining experience where i was questioned upon my choice of an order. My girlfriend is a local in Wantirna and I would have encouraged coming to this venue in the future if we had somewhat of a courteous and respectful dining experience. Our treatment however by this one staff member was beyond poor to say the least.
I can confirm that in the past there has been a more positive dining experience at McDonalds when teenagers have apologised for providing the incorrect order. This is however unacceptable for a middle aged grown women to show no dignity or respect. Her attitude was not reasonable or necessary in this given situation.
What frustrates me the most is that my girlfriend was mistreated this way as a local of Wantirna. I could not let her sit there eating nachos for dinner and swapped my pie for hers. I can confirm i barely ate your nachos and went to buy KFC for dinner after. I do not recommend coming to this venue.
Yours sincerely, One...
Read moreThe waitresses were friendly & the food ok. That's about the only positives I have for the Wantrina Club. We booked a function on the promise that the lift they were planning to install would be ready by then, of course it wasn't so elderly people had to walk up & down stairs to the function room. This was compounded by the fact that both gents & ladies toilets upstairs had plumbing issues and were partly flooded, meaning that the only clean toilets were available downstairs. The beer at the function room was $6/pot whilst in the bar downstairs was $6/schooner. It would have been fair enough if management had made this clear at the start but nothing was said, instead to block people taking $6/schooners upstairs from he bar an employee was stationed at the stairs stopping people taking drinks up due to 'responsible service'. This fact seemed doubtful as the was no mid strength drinks available at the function room, only downstairs so people preferring mid-strength were out of luck. I actually challenged the 'drinks monitor' at the stairs on his position, as a couple of times elderly ladies were attempting to get up or down stairs to the toilets, however the employee was more preoccupied with playing on his mobile phone. Considering that there are many other function venues in the area, I would have thought that this club would have made more of an effort to secure repeat business from around 100 visitors. As it happens this is the first & last time that our group will be using this venue for our twice-yearly function. We have never ever had such a bad experience at any of the other venues in the area that we have used, and our social group has been together for 50+ years. The organiser of our function did actually contact the venue a few days after to give feedback, however the management appeared to be oblivious...
Read moreI joined friends for dinner on a Friday night. Getting here and finding parking was very easy. The first thing I noticed about the bistro was the noise. It was incredibly loud inside with the place having around 90% occupancy. It was difficult to hear the conversation at my table. We all went to order our food at the same time. Two of us waited around 45 minutes and when it came, it was not what we ordered. Rather than send it back and wait even longer, we accepted the food. The other two people at my table who also ordered at the same time waited even longer, and I think they would still be waiting if we hadn't complained. To the clubs credit, someone came and apologised and offered them a free drink each. I thought my food tasted very nice. It was a good serving, and I have no complaints about the food itself. Everyone agreed the food was good. The staff seemed rushed, and we wondered if they were short staffed that night. They seemed pleasant enough though. In summary, I liked my food even though it wasn't exactly what I had ordered. I just wasn't impressed by how long we had to wait. I might go again. I'm not going to hold one semi bad experience against them, but it probably won't be...
