Went dinner on Sunday. Ordered 4 dishes. We ordered 京都骨, braised beef, kuei fei chicken & Kangkung with fermented bean curd.
The first dish came looked like sweet & sour pork and we thought they brought the wrong order. When spoke to the manager, we were told that it was 京都骨 n that the difference between sweet & sour pork & 京都骨 is that sweet & sour pork has no bones whilst the other has bones 🙄. This is the first red flag! We didn’t make a fuss n accepted giving the benefit of doubt that it it’s their style. My take is that they made a mistake and tried to pawn it off so that they don’t have to redo and waste what they made.
The braised radish beef came next. Taste wise decent but the radish wasn’t soft as if it was just blanched and thrown in.
Next came the kangkung dish. Whilst eating half way, my friend chewed on something rubbery n thot it was dried squid. Upon checking, it is found to be a rubber band. We hilighted to the manager and he quickly took away the rubber band and said that the kitchen hand probably forgot to untie it whilst washing. This sets one thinking how they wash their vege or if they even wash them. No apologies or whatsoever was extended.
After our vege dish, we waited for more than 20 mins for our last dish, a chicken dish which wasn’t served even tho several reminders given to the servers. We decided that we no longer want the dish and told the manager that we would like to cancel the chicken dish since it hasn’t arrived and we were somewhat full by then. He then checked and found that the dish was sitting at the serving counter for quite awhile and said that the servers forgot to serve us. He then tried to get us to accept the dish which we declined as we weren’t sure how long the dish has been out in the open. He then asked us to takeaway instead as it is already cooked which we declined as we went there for a meal, not to takeaway. The manager wasn’t happy that we insisted to cancel n take the dish out of the bill.
Hence, this will be my first & last visit to this restaurant. Also, please check your receipts properly...
Read moreHorrible horrible experience! This is the first time I leave comment on the Internet by the way! Normally I don't care but today I just thought it would be better to warn others. So first the air con is extremely cold, I understand it is a hot day but all I asked is to change the direction of air con, not to turn it off since I'm with old people who can't have air con directly blowing cold air to them. The first waiter said okay but didn't come back after 20mins, so I went to ask the manager, he said no problem but didn't do anything after another 20 mins. Then I asked him agin, all I've got is him saying the controller doesn't work. YOU DID NOT EVEN TRY IT!!! So I let it go. Then we've waited 40mins for a dish we ordered, with which 30mins is waiting for a refill of hot water for our tea. When I asked the waiter for the dish, she gimme said it will be here so just wait, with the white eye!!! And god bless the lady sitting next to us, the waiter started to clean their table before they wish to leave and spill the left over on her dress. She was angry and said,'why can't you just gimme us five mins to leave properly? Just because we've paid?!' Hey, no wonder secrecy kitchen is always full and I totally regretted my decision for having Wealth Garden as a default for secret kitchen. Worst experience ever and it's an understatement. Good luck guys! And wish you all...
Read moreGood food but pricey and service could have been better. A meal for five adults and a toddler came out to be $250 with byo drinks. This comprised of a total of eight dishes plus rice which puts it at just about $30 per dish which is definitely on the high side for equivalent Chinese restaurants. Normally we'd expect to pay around $22-$26 per dish. Serving sizes were reasonable and the food was fresh, quick to arrive after ordering. A let down was the service at the start where the main waiter kept asking us to wait whilst taking our order so he could answer the phone. This happened around 3 times. He also was the only waiter taking orders and showing people to their tables so he also made us wait whilst he showed four other groups to their table. This is the first time I've experienced something like this and I thought it was rude to say the least. He was apologetic nonetheless and was friendly. We enjoyed the food and also enjoyed the complementary soup for entree as well as the complementary fruits and bean curd dessert at the end of our meal. This was definitely a bonus as most similar Chinese restaurants only offer either a soup or dessert complementary. Would we go back? Yes, I'd say we would given that it is our local Chinese restaurant and the food was generally good and tasty. Pricing was on the high side but for convenience it's probably something we'd...
